With our DSL and ACL teams back at it, let's take a look at some Jhonny Severino highlights. Boy, there is lots to like in that swing - compact, fast through the zone, opposite field capable. I am calmly very excited about his promotional path?:

@damuelle: It would appear Yeison Perez is doing just fine. Just fine and dandy

Playing 1B today, he is current 2-for-4 with his 2nd triple and 4 more rbi's (19 now on his season). In now 49 AB's he has bumped his BA to 0.417 an his OPS to 1.441. Two of the rbi's came with two outs.

Luis Lara with a 2-for-3 day and a run scored in a shortened 5-inning victory over the DSL Rockies. He continues to excel in the lead-off role for the DSL Brewers 1. He is now hitting 0.376 with an 1.027 OPS in 85 switch hit AB's (9 doubles, four triples). What an intriguing prospect.

Lefty-batting catcher (throws right), Edgardo Ordonez continues to perform well in limited AB's and rotational work. He knocks across all four DSL Brewers 1 rbi's today and hit his 2nd HR. His OPS is now up to 0.895 with a 0.257 BA in a limited 35 AB's.

The DSL Brewers 2 lead 9-5 in the bottom-half of the fourth inning. I'd say they are definitive beneficiaries of a 7-for-16 mark with RISP. Lots to enjoy there, surely, from the dugout.

Given the DLS Brewers 2 were Suspended in the bottom of the 4th inning (2 outs runners on 1st and 2nd - Brewers 2 pitching) and the DSL Brewers 1 finished after 5 innings, I'm going to go the courageous route and say: Weather Delay. I was mildly confused to begin with as both original weather forecasts in the Game Logs/Box Scores claim: 'Sunny'.

Carolina and Kannapolis are tied 1-1 in this week’s series on the road, with RHP Stiven Cruz getting the start tonight:

LHP Antoine Kelly’s 100 Ks lead the Midwest League, so he looks to add to that cushion tonight while putting a wild last start behind him, as Wisconsin tries to go up 2-1 on South Bend:

LHP Nick Bennett is on the mound for AA Biloxi, who need to snap their 6-game skid and avoid a 3-0 series deficit in Montgomery:

Second consecutive outing Antoine Kelly has really struggled with base runners. Through 2 2/3 70 plus pitches 5 hits, 3 walks. Hopefully he can re-discover his prior dominant stuff before the Futures Game!

Dahl on a nice hot streak. If Taylor's going to still be out, I'd consider giving him the call....

He’s been stellar of late and solid all year. 2 HR’s tonight - had an OF assist in Game 2. Steady and smooth and, also of importance: he is always available.

In other news after going an entire month with zero XB knocks, Turang now has a triple and a double in the first 3 games at 2nd place Columbus.

This is the version of LHP Nick Bennett I was expecting to see more of in 2022:

6ip, 3 h, 1bb. 9 k’s, 0er Yeah baby!

Biloxi clinging to a precarious 2-0 lead late.? Why precarious? In 2022 any Shuckers lead is precarious.

Well the first appearance for Taylor Floyd was not pretty. Feeling for the young righty. 2022 has been anything but kind as he looks to find a semblance of his 2021 arm. I imagine the T-Rats are going to need to find who exactly can close things down now that Cam Robinson has moved south. I would imagine James Meeker will get a look and the possibility of a Michele Vassalotti call up from Zebulon.

Oh the joys of being a High-A manager and losing your flawless 20 plus Save Closer!

Scary scene in the Timber Rattlers game - for MiLB.TV subscribers:

Catcher Darrien Miller took a foul tip directly back to his mask, and to be exact his left jaw line. He immediately went to the ground and remained there for several minutes while being attended to. Foul tip isn't really the right term, it was a wicked foul straight back, right at the plane of Miller's mask. He would eventually get to his feet and walked off on his own.

Go to the 03:32:30 hour/minute mark

Miller has always been a bit of a ball magnet while at the plate (HBP 28 times vs. 411 career at-bats). Miller was plunked twice in this game, giving him 11 this season, or approx. once every 17 at-bats. Miller was hit by a pitch three times on June 21st, his first game back after missing just over two weeks with an undisclosed injury.

In Thursday's game, it was not the HBP's that saw him exit.

In his return to action after being out since exiting a Biloxi game with an oblique injury on May 13th, CF Garrett Mitchell had an eventful night with Arizona Blue.

Mitchell was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat (great - thanks a lot, I'm sure), Mitchell would be stranded at second base.

Mitchell would fly out to center field to end the 3rd inning.

In the top of the 4th, Mitchell earned an outfield assist when his throw to shortstop Daniel Guilarte led to an 8-6-2 putout at home plate.

Mitchell lined an opposite-field double to left in the 5th (stranded again as the Crew's Blue squad would eventually lose 7-2. He was replaced in the field to begin the 6th.
