Well, I saw the opening inning 2-run shot Mort gave up - it was flat and dead center. I turned it off and went to watch the Packers first pre-season game (even given the T-Rats score a questionable decision). I see the line. I run for the woods. Yeeeesh.

Darrien Miller hits his 9th homer of the year, a 2-run shot as Wisconsin creeps to within 9-6 in the 7th inning. C’mon guys!

It's a relatively small sample size but at the moment Sal has twice as many walks in AAA (6 so far) compared to Ks (3).

It’s undrafted free agent night for ACL Brewers Blue, as 24-year old 6’7” RHP Nick Merkel gets the start and then 23-year old 6’1” Ryan Brady makes his organizational debut in relief.

They trail 2-0 in the 4th inning, however, while ACL Brewers Gold was rained out.

Super signing SS Daniel Guilarte and young INF Ney Serrano continue to be unavailable, it seems.

Joey Wiemer has hit his 1st AAA homer, a 2-run shot to the opposite field. It’s 11-2 Nashville through 6 innings.

His first Triple-A HR...that has to be his first ding dong since June?

(Looks. Yes. Since June 22nd! Whewww. What a drought)

Let's hope this gets that power stroke going again, eh? He had some dubs lately. I was hoping it was a sign of things to come. Let's get hot, young man!

I know speed and batting average is so...old school, but damn, it's sure be nice to be able to put Frelick and Turang atop the order. Hit .280, draw some walks, steal some bases...put some pressure on the opposing pitchers and defense.

And it doesn't hurt that they're not exactly butchers with the glove.

I used to love batting orders where the top 2 are pretty much interchangeable w/regard to their skills. You seldom if ever see it anymore. I guess with the universal DH you can have pretty much the same effect hitting one ninth & the other first, but I'd be on board with those two (or maybe Ruiz factoring in as well) someday hitting 1-2.

I only mentioned Turang and Frelick as I think they're safer bets than Mitchell and Weimer to have impacts next season, both of whom I anticipate taking a little longer to adjust. With regard to Ruiz, I just don't know a whole lot about him and haven't ever seen him or really followed him. Just the scouting reports and the big breakout year he had. He certainly does look like a candidate to maybe be the #9 hitter. Hits for power, steals bases and if his adjustments this year are legit, it's that kinda double leadoff hitter we were aiming for when we used to hit the pitcher 8th.

Now...if only we could figure out how to get like...90% of '18-'19 Yelich back!
