Game 1: Packers @ Vikings - Sunday, September 11th 3:25 CT

I am so happy to have football back. It doesn't look good for Lazard or Bak to go tomorrow but I will bet Jenkins will play. Tough game to call, week 1 is whacky and once again we didn't play many starters in preseason. I am hopeful for the D and pulling out a low scoring game. I would take the under in this one.

Has Bahk been working with doctors from ancient Greece on his rehab? This may be the slowest recovery from an ACL tear in modern history.

His knee was trashed. Much more damage than a "typical" ACL tear. I am speculating, but I wonder if the surgery was botched as well.

Regardless, I think he'll be back this month, and probably be fine. All this doom and gloom stuff about him not playing ever again is just drama.

Considering he's on month 20 of normally a 9 month injury, I think it's very possible his career could be in jeopardy. And if he does come back will he be the same player?

1-Not a 9 month injury. That's on the VERY rare side.

2-Did you not just read the last post?

3-He literally played last year on a bad knee and WAS still the same player.

The Vikings have the worst turf in the league. It's so bad they're in the process of changing it...during the season. Not the best setting to bring back your two franchise OTs.

He played 27 snaps in one game. That's not really enough game action to definitively determine he's the same player he was before the injury.

I'm not taking anything said about the guy in practice into account.  Every single guy coming off an injury or coming into training camp is either "in the best shape of his life" or "looking as good as they ever have", so every thing that's said about a player is grain of salt material.

Whether he's taking a longer than normal time to heal, or whether his surgeries haven't gone as planned, or whatever reason, it's not completely out of line for Packer fans to wonder if he's going to be as effective going forward, or if he'll even see significant time on the field again.

I think Chris Godwin is at 8 and a half months and he's supposedly back tonight.

But yeah, Dobbins and Gus Edwards are both at about a year and not ready.

Amari Rodgers came back in  6 I believe. That's not always the best route.

There's also two VERY different type of ACL surgeries. The Achilles graft vs just repairing the ACL. The first, you feel better much easier but are at a higher risk for re-injury(apparently because it feels so strong, but it takes more than 6 months for the graft to heal and you can re-injure it). The other, repairing the ACL, just stitching the torn part back together, that has a little longer recovery time...and there are apparently advantages to it...I don't remember what they're supposed to be. I guess less chance of reinjury to the ACL?

Guy comes back with the knee still swelling up and in pain and plays at an elite level...I think that is enough to determine if he's the same player WHEN he can play.

I get people are freaking out about this...but everything that's happened the last month should be a good sign.

Finally feels healthy and normal again. The player, coach and GM have both unequivocally said they have absolutely no concerns about his long term future. As far as I understand, he's about 10 weeks out from his last meniscus surgery. And he's been practicing.

I'd guess...just from afar without knowing obviously, but they looked where they were playing and decided it wasn't worth it to bring him back to play on THAT field. A turf that they've decided to replace, but won't be ready for the opener. Also where Jenkins went down I think.

I'll freak out if he's not playing by week 3 or 4. In both cases. Honestly, the Jenkins thing is more concerning to me at the moment. The Packers are so annoyingly secretive about their injuries, what the hell is going on with his pec? He was good to go, but then he had a pec injury? I've never heard about a minor pec injury. Which...neither an M or a D come before my name, so maybe it's normal to have a minor pec injury, but it's disconcerting.

Just play #89 a LOT of snaps and don't let Hunter or Smith wreck this season before it starts. I wanna see what Love can do, just...not anytime too soon.

I haven't followed it too closely but it went from on track to play on Tuesday to DNP and likely out and everyone not commenting on it on Friday. I guess I fear that dreaded setback word again, hopefully they are just being careful. Tonyan is in today.

Seems to me like Bakhtiari has gotten really good at getting 95% back from a knee injury, then has a setback when he's actually giving it enough effort to test under NFL game conditions, and then has to step back because something just isn't right anymore.

Not going to villify him because a career-ending injury sucks in the NFL with non-guaranteed contracts, and he will HOPEFULLY be able to resume playing at a high level at some point (sounds like he's probably out next week against the Bears already as well)...but at this point you've got to wonder how coincidental this type of approach, which has been ongoing for almost 2 calendar years, syncs up with getting all of his guaranteed money paid out - I believe the guaranteed portion of his contract ends after 2022.  It just sucks for both #69 and the organization as a whole.

Early games thus far point to the following:

"The Bears still suck"....Fields is not the answer surrounded by a thin roster

The Bengals still can't block anyone

Well, we know Fields can throw touchdown passes when there's a complete breakdown in the secondary and there's not a defender within 15 yards of the receiver.

Bears were penalized for illegal use of a towel, costing them a FG. It's now 10-7 after Fields pulled off a dynamic scrambling TD throw.

Bears fans at the game are getting absolutely soaked right now.  49ers too.  It's a beautiful thing.

It's hilarious, Soldier field delivers a bad field again. There are ponds and streams developing all over the field.

With how little the starters played in the preseason I'll be pleasantly surprised if they score more than seven points in the first half.

Or the game. Apparently MLF didn't learn his lesson from the 38-3 curb stomping last year in week 1 and refused to give his starters any playing time in the preseason. Add to that their #1 receiver and two best OL are out and this doesn't look good at all.

If they don't double Jefferson it's going to be a long day.

Probably shouldn't have walker as the closest defender to him either.
