The one thing they absolutely could not do, they did.

There was no difference between a sack and an incomplete pass there. In fact, the sack might have been better to keep the clock moving / force a timeout.

The defense has had a great plan all day, so let’s change that on the list important drive of the game.

We’re only up one score, why go prevent? Maddening.

Greg Olsen agrees.

It's mind boggling that NFL coaches still do this.

LET THEM SCORE AT THIS POINT

Why??? They can't take the lead. We haven't moved the ball all half and had one timeout left. Not the right situation for this strategy.

Hmm, if they run it and don't get it, could they even get another play off?

4th down would be interesting just because then they definitely could do either.

That is why, right there.

So what's the difference? So we had 40 seconds instead of 15 to go 3 and out?

You don't let the other team score when they need both a TD and 2 just to tie you.

Yes.

I would be too sure if it was up the gut creating a giant pile which is what that formation was designed to do.  Moot point since they didn't run.

Heck yeah!

The whole delay of game explanation is so comically stupid. He has to look at the clock and then look towards the ball? Come on. That is like saying a 1st base ump needs to watch the ball hit the glove and then look down to see if the foot hit.
