Game Thread (9/30/2022): Marlins (Alcantara) at Brewers (Burnes) - 7:10 PM CDT

As expected the night game between the Phillies and Nats has been postponed.

Good move by MLB moving the one game to this afternoon. Now they can try to fit the other 3 games between the raindrops this weekend instead of trying to get 4 in.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Oh great, back to calling games must-wins. I remember the other day when we lost a must-win game and then like two days later we were tied for the WC at one point.

That’s why we are probably out of the playoffs.      We have already lost these games

this team is going to end up just short.

maybe if we win the rest of our games we can sneak in

I believe it's the offenses turn to cost them a win.

They seem to rotate which part of the game disappears.

Offense pretty much cost them last night already...

True but they had a lead late so i tend to put that on the pitching more.

The offense.  The manager and another pitcher giving up a grand slam cost them

the starting pitcher was great though.   He deserved better

Well, the offense also had many chances to put the game out of reach, yet couldn't score outside one inning.

Shame! Going to watch Star Wars, now! Can’t handle the ineptitude of this team! Jace, gets a hit and steals second. 0 outs! No one can advance him! This is not just tonight, it’s every night! May the force be with the Brewers next year, this year is toast! Good night!

I’d be interested to know what the losing percentage is when you hit a grand slam though.   I bet it’s low

You mean high? And yeah, in general, it probably is, but if the Brewers convert on one or two of the several opportunities that they had with multiple men on last night and you're looking at a 5/6-4 victory instead of a 4-2 loss.

If the manager wasn’t being foolish we win anyways.    That loss just sucked

I don't get how CC was being "foolish". He went to one of the better pitchers in the game to try to get a multiple inning save with Devin likely down. Was he supposed to go to Bush or Boxberger? Those guys haven't exactly inspired optimism recently.

I’m ok going to peralta.   Not taking him out was beyond foolish.    That’s literally his job.   Everyone could see he was done.    Everyone.    Even peralta

throw in there that he doesn’t have the stamina either yet.     It was a relatively easy decision for him in a sport that doesn’t have many simple ones

Peralta was sitting 95-96 and facing a righty in Garcia. Was not a "relatively easy decision" when you consider the alternative was Boxberger.

Yeah it was.   He just walked a guy on four pitches to load the bases.   We have a whole bullpen of guys who throw 95. That doesn’t mean crap.     He should have been out of there.    It was a dumb mistake in a huge game.

i get it.   Counsell was going off of peralta 2021 and not what he is this year with arm fatigue and all that jazz.   If that’s burnes or woodruff this year you give them that rope.    But that was a major mistake.  Major
