Covey pitched 4 innings on Wednesday for the Dodgers when Dustin May had to leave after 1 inning. Covey was DFA the next day. Would consider giving Covey the start Monday or Tuesday as the other options are not real great either. Probably looking at Tyson Miller, Ethan Small. Janson Junk or some combination of that and a Wilson piggyback. Covey has been starting all year, started in China last year. Maybe he could keep the Brewers in the game and pitch decent for a couple of games at least, similar to what Rea did for a bit and then DFA if necessary.

There’s a reason he pitched in China.; Covey doesn’t have what it takes to play in the major leagues. His 6.50 Career ERA and K:BB ratio of 1.6:1 says that loud and clear.

Phillies pitching is even worse than the Brewers so not coming to the Brewers, good or bad.

You were right, Phillies claimed him on waivers, way to have the finger on the pulse.

Dodgers are arguably the pre-eminent franchise in baseball and they gave him a shot.

I guess. They also dumped him after him one appearance. I know it was because they needed a fresh arm more than anything to do with his performance but if they felt he was anything worth keeping they would have.

It sure is, remember we drafted him out of high school - and there was some drama about not being to help him manage that or something.  But yes we are old, ha

He gave up 1 run in five innings his first start against a good diamondback lineup then 5 runs in less than an inning in his second start against another good Braves lineup. He is low end emergency starter but kind of where the Brewers are still at.
