High-A Wisconsin targets a 2-0 series lead in Cedar Rapids, with 21-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (6.41 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 26.2 IP) ready to break out of a recent funk. SS Eric Brown Jr. (1.086 OPS in last 11 games / 53 PAs) has found an offensive groove.

That's a solid 4-1 extra inning win for Wisconsin. Felt like they were in control the whole way, just needing one of the Brown-Moore cycles to pay off.

Cornielle, Brady, Morales and Jordan limited the Kernels to 4 hits.

Oh, and yes it was Robert Moore with the 3-run blast in the 10th inning. Progress!!

Strange - the boxscore is showing it was Gray Jr.

Cool. Box score was a mess the whole game. Happy if it was Gray breaking out of a slump in a big way. Box score also added a 10th inning run for Cedar Rapids, while taking away one of their hits. One of those days, I guess.

Can AA Biloxi follow in Wisconsin’s footsteps to take a 2-0 series lead, at home against Montgomery? RHP Justin Jarvis (2.31 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 39 IP) makes his 8th start of 2023. CF Jackson Chourio .252 AVG, .692 OPS in 166 PAs) returns after a day off.

Low-A Carolina seeks to bounce back from yesterday’s home loss to Down East, with RHP Aidan Maldonado (6.20 ERA in 20.1 IP) needing a turnaround game as well. Jesus Parra (.212 AVG, .632 OPS) gets a rare start at third base after Luke Adams exited yesterday’s game early.

AAA Nashville welcome 3B Luis Urias for his first rehab game, with the team needing to beat visiting Iowa Cubs to forge a 1-1 series tie. RHP Pedro Fernandez (2.96 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 27.1 IP) gets tonight’s start.

Biloxi’s offense sure has trouble getting anything going considering the talent in that lineup. Chourio’s batting average is going the wrong direction and his strikeouts are up again. Blah.

Biloxi have the third most runs in the Southern League despite being by far the youngest positional squad in the league...

I fear Cam Robinson is rapidly approaching being DFA'd. He just doesn't look like the same guy this year. I almost hope he's struggling with some injury that could explain the poor pitching. He can't throw strikes and when he actually does get a pitch in the strike zone it usually is getting hit hard somewhere.

He was just pulled and his line is sitting at 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO, 1 HBP. The bases are loaded and Vennaro has an out to get still. His AA ERA is currently sitting at 12.79 and his season ERA between AA and AAA is 9.42.

In 20 games with the Mudcats, Luis Lara now has twice as many walks as he does strikeouts (16:8 walks to strikeouts). I had to do a double take when I saw that. Really exciting prospect.

Good timing. I was about to ask if anyone knew what was going on with Cam. During the off-season I thought he could conceivably pitch his way to Milwaukee by seasons' end. Since the demotion to AA he's actually gotten worse, which is no small feat. Sorta brings to mind Taylor Floyd, who was climbing the ladder, impressing and then WHAM!!!!

His velo has been down a bit this year. He was closer to 94 last year and has been more 92 this year, but I feel like that wouldn't explain how drastically he has fallen off. He just doesn't seem confident right now. I don't want to right him off completely, but he really doesn't belong on the 40-man roster and I very much doubt he would get claimed by a team if we removed him from the 40-man.

Voit is already on the 40 but yeah would be simple enough to just not bring Voit back and Urias to take his spot next week. Would still have to decide what active position player to demote,

Thanks for the insight.

Sorry, just sick of checking out the box scores every single day seeing an 0-for from him.

That combined with my concerns about him being overrated before the season even started.

He’s 9 months younger than the next youngest position player in AA and has a respectable 88 wRC+.

regardless, he looks like nowhere near the top prospect in baseball.

So not top prospect in baseball = sucks now. I guess our entire minor league system sucks then

I get why the 0-for's can get a bit frustrating. Keep in mind, he is the youngest position player in AA by 3/4 of a year, is striking out less than last year while keeping the same line drive rate and is playing in a league where hitting is really at a premium because MLB decided to mess with the baseballs and create whiffle balls for the pitchers to throw.

It seems like you are basing this entirely on box scores, with nothing else factored into the thought process, which is shortsighted to say the least. His batted ball data has still been quite good. Again, he's 19 in a league full of 23 year olds. Not to mention he's only a little over 1/3 of the way to his total plate appearances from last year.
