That's always been my one complaint about it.

Other than location, which I've hammered to death and will not do so again, the lack of breeze and general "indoorsy" feel of AmFam is my biggest problem with the stadium from a baseball spectating perspective.

I don't know if I've ever been as hot as the day I sat behind the visitor's dugout on an August day. It was just brutal.

I took my son and daughter to a July day game several years ago and sat about 3 rows behind the visitor dugout. The heat (it was in the low to mid-90's), sunlight, and lack of breeze was so unbearable we left after 3 innings. I'm normally a stick it out baseball fan, but even I could stand it no longer.

So we left, stopped at a restaurant on the way home that had a large screen TV, and ate some tasty food in air conditioned comfort while watching the game. So it wasn't a total loss. It actually turned into a pretty good memory for me with my kids.

People need to keep in mind that extreme heat and plastic fields are a bad combination. It will make the park even more unbearable on hot, sunny days.

I gained a new respect for baseball players that day because I couldn’t understand how they were standing on that field.

At least they were being paid for their misery! You and I paid for our discomfort.  🙂

Every other half inning they were in the dugout in the shade or could sneak back into the clubhouse for some A/C.  They got less sun exposure than you did.  Also, when on the field you can move around, somewhat generating your own breeze and cooling you off.

I used to play beach volleyball in Southern CA, and I've always felt hotter just laying in the sun than I did playing volleyball.
