I will try to do this a few times throughout the season, but let me know what players you would like injury updates on and I will do my best to deliver.

Feel like Mendez and Guilarte are the big ones right now.

I will update when I hear of anything regarding Guilarte, but Hendry has been dealing with an ankle injury and I believe he is within a week of his return to the lineup.

Also Luis Castillo. I remember a while back you said he could return soon after Luis Lara but I am guessing he re-injured himself.

Unfortunately, Castillo’s status was complicated by a quadriceps injury.  The good news is that he will play 5 games in the ACL starting on Monday and then will head to Carolina. (fingers crossed)

Apologies if he's been mentioned recently, but Brandon Knarr?

Seminaris, Chirinos, and Yeager, arms who have joined Knarr on the AA IL?

Joseph Hernandez and Justin King with Wisconsin?

Nate Peterson and Tayden Hall at Carolina?

Harold Chirino has a torn lat muscle which typically requires 3-4 months of recovery.  At this point, there is hope for a return at the end of the season, but that is not a certainty.

Wow what a bummer. He was having an incredible season.

Nate Peterson has been dealing with a minor elbow strain and is scheduled to return to action a week from today.

Guilarte injured the pinky finger of his left hand on a stolen base attempt.  I don’t know exactly when the target for his return is, but it shouldn’t be too far off.

@ARobsBrewCrew this isn’t an injury question but do you know when the Southern League is done with the enhanced ball?

i thought it was halfway point which would be today but I’ve also seen July 9th as well. I can’t seem to find a definitive answer.

Southern League will revert back to standard MLB baseballs rubbed with mud from the Delaware River after July 13th.

Tayden Hall will begin rehab games in AZ today and will be there for two weeks after which he will head back to Carolina.

Is the plan still July for Brian Fitzpatrick? He seemed like a potential sleeper if he could stay healthy.

As far as I know, the target for his return is still late July, but his situation was very touchy dealing with a nerve in his elbow.

It looks like Hendry Mendez, Luis Castillo, Tayden Hall, Nate Peterson, Ryne Moore and Brian Fitzpatrick are all on course.

Any news on SS Jhonny Severino, who’s not played in one week? There’s so much substitution in ACL games, so it was impossible to know that he’d exited on June 27th due to injury.

Yesterday, Tyler Black, Gregory Barrios and Mike Brosseau all departed their games early. Hopefully there’s no serious issue there and EBJ will also come out okay.

Chris Mehring on the post-game T-Rats pod had UNOFFICIAL upadates:

  • OF Eduarqui Fermandez is chomping at the proverbial bit. He is ready to go but has to wait out his full 7-Day IL stint.
  • LHP Justin King (last pitched June 6th) has begun throwing bullpen sessions as he looks to ramp up.
  • No official word on EBJ. It seemed to me like they are awaiting word on test results (completely MY speculation). Tho we obviously are hoping for the best here, it really just doesn't currently sound good. And, when I go back to review that play it still appears to me that he somehow injured his left arm in the awkward landing. Just a freak injury. What a tough break season for the young man! Fingers crossed.

Also, as Jim noted in yesterday's ML GT, according to highly esteemed manager Victor Estevez Barrios is indeed being treated as a bruise on that left leg beanball. So, just a day or two off for now. Whew!

Jhonny Severino has a sprained wrist and the plan is for him to get back into games next week sometime, hopefully early in the week.

As evidenced by his continued absence, Severino has been dealing with lingering issues with his sprained wrist, but it is still seen as a short-term absence, nothing more serious going on.  They are taking things week-by-week at this point to ensure it is 100% when he returns to game action.

Currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery in Maryvale, we forget LHP Brian Fitzpatrick is listed at 6”7, 230.

Fitzpatrick underwent TJ surgery in 2019-2020, but I believe he avoided going under the knife while dealing with his latest elbow injury.
