See now this is tupid, Monasterio has NO power and you're down 3 runs, at the very least PH Anderson or almost anyone available has a better shot at tying it with one swing then he does

Exactly.   I like Craig but these are the times a manager needs to actually manage and he was asleep

Monasterio has a .362 OBP. When you're down, the goal (should) be to not make outs, which Monasterio does better than most of the guys on this roster. Anderson has 9 homers in almost 300 plate appearances, so it's not like we have anyone on the bench who's anything more than a moderate (at best) power threat.

Hard facts.

True but our bench is probably worst in mlb. There are no good options. That said that's why Hiura would be nice to have around. He can run into one we know.

You must be one of those expert internet argument guys.

Let's spend 20 posts arguing about the definition of a word.

Not at all.  I'm the "I hate it when someone can't have an honest discussion because they move the goal posts" guy.....and that is what you did.

Caratini is the go to there

I wouldn't have argued with that. Anderson does nothing for me (and he just came back from a lengthy layoff) and I'd have been disappointed to see Monasterio pulled for Anderson.

For some reason, people feel better when they get real negative about their team. Not sure why that's the case.

Ah, so your the fandom gate keeper guy now.

Looks like It’s one of those times to walk away from this team and just focus on little league baseball.

Yeah.  Anderson would have come in on D if a miracle happened.

Anderson is in the Weimer/Adames mode right now.  Just seems to be flailing at everything.

I’m sure you’re just a more loyal or better fan than me & others who offer honest opinions about this hapless offense & our chances of failing in the postseason should we get there

I guess the other possibility is that you are wearing beer goggles & you’re unwilling to accept the truth about this team that we all love too much

Is there a difference offensively.

I think it speaks a lot about the construction of the roster when we're like "yeah, Vic Caratini is the guy we'd actually want" when we're down to the last 1/3rd of the season and the division lead is on the line.

It appears I’m on the more hopeful range of scale around here. But I’m not alone.

You really thought the best option there was to try to string together 3-4 more hits to tie the game? When does that ever happen with this team. Sure a 3 run jack wasn't likely but when placed against the odds of stringing together 3-4 more hits before making another out, I know what odds I'd take every time. One swing vs. a minimum of 3-4 more swings?

Can you explain what you typed? I have a journalism degree & I can’t decipher what you just wrote.

Lmao no doubt!  Thankfully the pitching doesn’t suck and the rest of the division is as mediocre as the Brewers are.  However, I still believe we end up 2nd or 3rd in the division.

I think the likely hood of Brian Anderson hitting a homerun, yes, was less than the Brewers scoring three runs with guys already on the corners with a .360 OBP guy at the dish. Anderson has hit one homerun since June, and has looked lost in his limited at bats since then. As Jason21 pointed out, Caratini would have been an option, or just trying to punch together a few basehits or walks.

Problem is we have virtually no power on the roster.
