Game 15: Packers @ Panthers - Sunday, Dec. 24th 12 PM

Jaire is starting to sound more and more like a player out of control (and/or respect)... The team certainly lacks discipline as a whole.  ST penalties, Defense constant chirping (despite no reason to be chirping) and being chippy on the field... they need a strong leader.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I think the worst part is it sounds like from his reaction too that he would go right out and say the exact same thing next week. Didn't seem to have any awareness that he said anything wrong.

I'm starting to get to the point of being pretty ready to move on from Jaire. He's starting to make me think of a defensive version of Antonio Brown.

Yeah...they're pretty much the same. All of Jaire's run ins with the Police and sideline tantrums, that makes sense...🙄

You ever have a boss or a coach who has absolutely no clue, but their poor performance reflects upon you?

That's how you lose a locker room. And while I thought there's no point in firing Barry now...it's looking like it makes more and more sense.

With a young team, culture is so important. It's a miracle we're 7-8.

More of an easy schedule and NFL parity than a miracle.

Pretty sure I didn't say they were the same thing or person. The parallels I was referring to were a young, talented player who seemed rather humble in the early years of their career, eventually getting way too big of a head, and just gradually starting to say and do progressively more bizarre things as time goes on.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have.  That doesn't excuse Jaire for injecting himself into a situation and doing stupid things.  It doesn't excuse DBs getting into WR's faces after an incompletion while acting like they are a shutdown defense... If Jaire was simply chirping about the game plan (which he has been), I'd be ok with it.  But it is the stupid, self-inflicted garbage that is happening on the field that worries me.

But beyond that, the ST has been horrible for penalties.  And our ST coach is supposed to be some sort of savant. Yet, we can't seem to get out of our own way.

Lack of discipline.  We all agree Joe Barry has lost the D.... but I'm wondering of MLF has lost them.  If he survives the offseason, he will need to be very selective about the D-coordinator they pick to reign the team back in.

I didn't say it excused it, I said Barry is losing the locker room. I'm not sure what you mean by "self-inflicted garbage that is happening on the field," though. Is this a general statement, or about Jaire specifically?

I just asked this question in the last week;

Quote

On second thought...I'm not even sure it matters if this is all directed specifically at Barry, the scheme, whatever. If your players, guys who are not trouble makers, if they're getting to this point where they're openly making comments about not playing because of issues with the staff, that undermines the HC.

MLF has to be losing credibility due to the decision-making of Joe Barry and that spreads and infects the team. Players start speaking out, they become more emboldened, then they...make themselves captain and they get suspended.

I don't actually think the last part normally happens, but...this is costing MLF, this is a young team and they need more leadership from the staff and it has to come from players/coaches they respect.

No. Others on the team have been very chippy the last couple games. Getting in people's faces, little cheap shots after three play (Jaire included last game), and other punk player crap.

I can't say I've noticed a lot of cheap shots or anything that's impacted the game negatively, but they do seem to do a lot of talking for a team giving up 30+ to terrible offenses...that can get annoying(like a guy celebrating a 1st down-down 30 points in a blowout).

But I guess with the current poor leadership, it wouldn't surprise me to see someone getting a personal foul or do something stupid at the worst possible time. I am happy with Quay. He's walked the line pretty well this year. Reigned in the stupid $### while still playing aggressively and with an edge.
