Glad to see Torres working his way up to three innings as well.

DSL Dos loses 3 to 2.

18yo RHP Argenis Aparicio went 5 IP | 1 ER | 3 H | 1 BB | 2 K lowering his season ERA to 2.84. He's been about as consistent as it gets for a DSL pitcher with eight outings now of four or five innings each and no more than two earned runs allowed in any of them.

In terms of DSL games and implications, that Cerveceros Uno (22-12) victory was about as big as it gets in the regular season. They've played two less games than the DSL Orioles Orange (23-13) but winning a head-to-head pulled them dead even atop their divisional standings. Pena also did Luis Pena things hitting his 4th triple of his season and knocking two across in the process.

AA Biloxi is tied 1-1 in their series at Pensacola, with promising RHP Shane Smith (3.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 10.9 K/9 in 65 IP) on the hill tonight. LF Adam Hall’s on-base streak is now 20 games.

25-year old RHP Chad Patrick 2.92 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 9.1 K/9 in 86.1 IP) has been a breakout performer for AAA Nashville, who look to him to lead the team to a home win over Charlotte (series tied 1-1). Let’s have another look at UT Tyler Black in center field.

20-year old RHP Daniel Corniel has had a tough 3-game run (11 ER in 12.1 IP with 13 Ks), so seeks to turn it around for Low-A Carolina at Salem (series 1-1). 19-year old SS Cooper Pratt has a new 5-game hitting streak.

24-year old RHP KC Hunt has 19 Ks in his last 2 starts (11.1 IP) for High-A Wisconsin, so aims to dominate at Beloit to claim a 2-1 series advantage. SS Eduardo Garcia has a 7-game hitting streak.

Shane Smith has gone twelve up twelve down (4 K) so far but the Biloxi bats have only managed a base on balls and hit by pitch through five frames leaving things even up at zero each heading to bottom five.

Daniel Corniel worked four scoreless (3 H | 1 BB | 3 K), but Dikember Sanchez finally surrendered his first run as a Mudcat on a solo shot in the fifth as Carolina trails 1 to 0.

Joey Wiemer walked, stole second, went to third on a throwing error, then scored on a Wes Clarke ground out to get Nashville on the board bottom of two.

Currently trailing 3 to 1 heading to bottom of three.

We are headed to the 6th with dueling 'Nopes'. Quite a tilt.

Offense has taken a snooze in the system today. Carolina with 2 hits, Lara just got Wisconsin's first hit, and both Biloxi and Nashville currently have no hits.

Posted

Wisco has gone nine up nine down as top of the order looks to get something going here in the fourth inning.

& they do. Luis Lara singled, Jadher Areinamo grounded into a fielder’s choice then stole second, and Luke Adams has singled him home to even up the score at one apiece,

KC Hunt currently at 3 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K with two wild pitches.

Smith and Hunt with very good outings. Corniel with a bounce back 4 inning start. Patrick and Hoff with respectable lines. Pitching side fine.
Offense is fine in Nashville (what else is new), but limited elsewhere. Wisconsin on to extras with 7 hits but only tied 1-1.
Mudcats shut out. Shuckers tied 2-2, with a meager 3 hits. Off to extras there.

And TRats say hold on. A walk to Vargas, and Luis Lara (3-4 now) with a big double.  3-1 TRats.  They intentionally walk Adams after a Hall ground out. Wood flies out to end it. On to the bottom of 10, now TRats 3-1.

Shuckers fail to score in the top of 10.  Still 2-2.

Sounds an out away from victory. 6-5 still.

Sounds close the deal.  Shuckers escape into the 11ty we go.

TRats - a bloop base hit makes it 3-2. Root strikes out the next hitter. Then a tailor made DP ground ball hits the pitcher goes left and no play and runners on 1st and 2nd with an infield single.  No solid contact at all. He strikes out Olmstaed with power (96 mph fastballs).  The a bloop right at the SS Garcia. Game Set Match. 3-2 TRats victory!!

Let’s go Shuckers. Get the offense going.

Shuckers get one in. Sparks with the spark.  A sinking liner to CF that can’t be caught. 3-2

Injury delay for the CF. Stays in the game a wouldn’t you know it the ball finds him. Warren with a bloop to CF. He dives and can’t hold on. But the SS quickly throws to the 3B covering second for the force out. Your typical 8-6-5 fielders choice force out at second, yeah we see that all the time.

But Kahle strikes out. And Martin avoids the CF but flies out to RF.

Bottom of 11 for Biloxi (Brewers affiliate) up on Pensacola (Marlins affiliate) 3-2 in extras. Please let’s hold on.

Earlier it was Wisconsin (Brewers affiliate) defeating Beloit (Marlins affiliate) 3-2 in extras.

Ugh. Biloxi blows it. A single to CF gets the man on, but the runner on second stays.

Then a bloop and EBJ with a nice catch. Then a ripped single to RF but the runner holds at third.

Bases juiced. Yeager goes up 0-2. Then nibbles and misses. Now full count. And misses. Walks in the tying run. Next batter on first (or maybe second)pitch thrown. Walk off hit. 4-3 Shuckers lose.

Recent Indy League signing Tyler Bryant put up his seventh scoreless appearance in eight trips to the mound now with the Mudcats racking up 16 K | 5 BB over his first 9.1 IP of affiliated ball.

Some other reliever performances of note tonight...

Stiven Cruz struck out three and faced the minimum allowing just a single (wiped out trying to steal on batter's interference) over three scoreless frames for the TRats.

Speaking of Indy League signings, Sam Gardner just keeps stacking zeroes (14 of 18 appearances) with 2 IP | 1 H | 1 BB | 2 K for the Shuckers.

Tyler Jay went line out, walk (caught stealing), single, hit by pitch, strikeout to put up a zero in his first Nashville outing.

Nice to see Lara putting together a good July after a really rough June.

Luke Adams just keeps on getting on base with another single, two walks and a stolen base (his 25th), though he did get caught for the 10th time too.

Was at 265/544/588 (220 wRC+) over 57 July PAs before tonight.

On the night newly acquired 30-year-old LHP Tyler Jay debuted as a Sound with 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1K in a scoreless 6th inning of work...RHP TJ Hook debuted for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Shookster gave his new team 2.0 IP of 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K over the sixth and seventh inning of a 2-1 'W'.
