With their 2-1 victory (hats off to the pitching staff of RHP's Chad Patrick, Kevin Herget, and Evan McKendry) the Sounds moved within 1.5 GB of the three way tie atop the International League leaderboards. Columbus, Lehigh Valley, and Rochester are all tied.

Well, hello C Nick Kahle! He bloops an oppo double to the deep RF corner and we are tied at 1 apiece! This an AB after Sparks went down looking at a 96 mph heater over the outer black. Needless to say, a huge hit. Casey Martin will have a chance here. Let's hope he can put together a better AB than anything I saw last night.

This is precisely what I saw last night. 0-2 count. Hall pinch running for Kahle at 2B. 0-1 pitch an inside off-speed off the plate he fouls it down the 3B line. He takes a 98 mph heater below the knees on the outside corner graciously called a ball. 1-2 count. AND, OMG!!! Casey Martin does it! He smashes a two run slider over the LF wall for his biggest hit as a Shucker. INCREDIBLE. A walk off two run shot. 3-1 Shuckers win.

Congratulations Mr. Martin. That. Was. Phenomenal.

That ball 1 call was especially questionable when you consider what Yoho's strikeout looked like. Those pitches look about as similar as could be.

49-48 overall. 19-11 in the second half. The Shuckers are up 2-1 in the series and have won 4 of their last 5. They remain in first place 3.0 G ahead of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos - Blue because they're 3.0 GB babyyyyyy!

Oh yes. I personally feel the pitch called a ball was a better pitch and an actual strike. I thought Yoho's was a tad low and outside.

I know the stats won’t count, but I continue to see Torres as one of the more intriguing deep sleepers in the system.

Obviously a tiny sample but looks like his 1.24 FIP and 1.30 xFIP are thee very lowest on the island among 711 pitchers with at least 10 IP.
