It's hard to tell with the camera angle from RF but Woodward looked pretty nasty that inning. If I had to choose a single word to describe how his pitches looked I would say tight

I mean, how about that last batter of his first inning. His first AB after a call-up from the FCL? He got absolutely worked in that AB. I agree with 'Tight'. He looked friggin' awesome.

So, early, it appears we have a heater that sits 96-97 mph for Woodward. We have a hook. We have a slider. We have a change-up. He definitely has TOOLS. First walk on a 3-2 heater just high and outside to a right-handed hitter to open his 2nd frame. He's fallen behind both batters in the 2nd.

Owen Miller just missed a HR by about 3 feet atop that monster wall in left CF. He'll instead stand on 2B with a double.

2 BB, 1 single. 1 SB for Woodward in the 2nd. Yet he can escape unscathed. Runners on 2B and 3B. Two down. Certainly not as accurate in the 2nd inning of work.

Zamora shows us every reasons why he's Zamora in a hit off the wall in deep LF. Great swing. AND, yet, with Roller the go-ahead run going on contact he would have scored the go-ahead run. Instead, Zamora is thrown out at 2B trying to stretch it to a double. Has to read that ball off the wall and see his runner - Roller was crossing home plate as he slid into the tag. Anywho, it's a 3-3 game now. Great rally inning. Hate to make that final out on the basepaths. It's just so much smarter to see the runner turning third and round big and wait and see. You get caught in a run down the go-ahead run scores. AND, Patrick just gave up his second bomb to Seymour. Sounds trail 4-3. Mistakes matter.

That's all for Woodward. Got his feet wet. Looked fantastic in doing so. Two free passes and a single mean very little when we take the bird's eye view: he has stuff. Story of my night so far.

Flores comes on in relief and K's his second batter on a gorgeous inside breaking ball. Man, I do love watching this young man sling it and compete. Just love his presence on the mound.

Adamczewski makes a fabulous diving play up the middle improbably stabbing a scorched line drive one-hopper. Looked like it was heading to CF. The throw to first was short-hopped and Bitonti couldn't scoop it. Runner gets aboard. Man, would have been awesome to see Bitonti scoop that one and reward that stab. Flores quickly gets ahead 0-2 to the next batter.

This pitcher for Delmarva is a big boy. He makes @Joseph Zarr's old favorite Jakob Brustoski look svelte in comparison.

Ahhh, my precious Ginger. Man, I so wanted Brustoski to figure his stuff out. Old wounds are opening at the mere mention.

Bitonti with a double to right CF. I have no idea how that bomb fell to the grass. Seemed like he hit it a mile high. Both OF'ers clearly couldn't get there but that was quite some hang time.

Walling pokes a well hit oppo grounder into LF. Bitonti scores. Reece is really showing some fantastic clutch bat work of late. You love to see it. Walling Stans Stand UP!

(I look around. Nobody else is standing. I sit back down slowly but filled with pride. I will not be deterred.)

LHP Joe Rock struck out 10 Sounds tonight. He leaves in a 4-4 tie. Several Sounds bats had zero answers. Despite the tie game he has to feel pretty dang enthused about his outing. Not everyone can face the mastery of Navarreto's bat. Cap'n Clutch had some wooden words that sounded like thunder! I may have seen Rock weeping after that Johnson blew over that LF fence like a hurricane.

Shorebirds have grabbed a 2-1 dink and dunk lead. Nothing hit particularly hard. Some stolen bases in there with speedy base runners. Bad luck inning for Flores. He gets a 1-1 sword on the next batter after the RBI ground out to 3B. He gets the pop out to 3B foul territory to escape the 4th.

Briceno follow with a first pitch line drive single to shallow LF. We have Mudcats on the corners. Top of the order now up. Zero outs. Let's go, men!
