The one thing I worry about with Marquette this year is that they don’t play a ranked team until they play UCONN.  They have to run the tables the rest of the season.  They can’t really lose more than two or three games in conference if they want a #1 seed.  Hopefully they don’t lay a few eggs during conference play.  The conference looks really weak this year.

I've been shocked at how bad the BEast looks. Marquette looks excellent. UConn will figure it out. Saint John's is good. After that, I'd expect Creighton to get it together, but the rest of the league has looked pretty disappointing.

Villanova looks okay, but didn't do enough noncon. How improved are DePaul and Georgetown? Can't be dropping home games in this league, because most of those are going to be Q2 and Q3 L's. Road games will provide some Q1 chances, but you really need a couple of teams to get that NET into the 50s and 60 instead of the 70s and 80s to solidify that.

Tonight was Marquettes best game to date in my humble opinion. If they can play d like that and convert their steals into points they can play with anyone in March. While they only shot 30 % on 3’s, making 11 helped.

A grand total of seven points between Joplin and Joves and up four at halftime, and Jones was scoreless until the last two minutes. I'd like to see that improve and put these pesky Bluejays away.

Can’t can’t can’t lose at home against someone like Xavier.  If they lose this game that’s going to be a really bad loss.  Probably drops them from a #1 seed and possibly a 2 seed in the tournament.

Another loss at home this time to a ranked team so not as bad as the previous loss.  They can’t lose another in conference game going forward if they want a top 4 seed.  If they lose another they are probably looking at a 6 or 7 seed.  Have to basically win out and at least make the championship conference game to stay in the top 4.

Looking like another loss unless they can turn this around.

Looks like they are picking the aggressiveness up on offense. Get some shots to fall and hopefully they can get the W

Yeah they need to drive to the basket more as they are becoming way too reliant on the 3-point shooting.  Mitchell needs to do more driving to the basket instead of settling for 3’s.

A couple of convincing wins over inferior teams will help some, but they'll have to win at least four of their final five to get a top 4 seed. A deep run in the conference tournament would be nice too.

Forget top 4. They might struggle to get a top 8. zThis is depressing.

Ideally Marquette at least splits their 2 games this week at worst. Win at least one game in the Big East Tournament. I think that puts them a solid 4 or 5.

I think UCONN is a must win for Marquette if they want to get back into a 4 or 5 seed.  I think right now they are in the 6-10 seeding due to the bad losses.  They can’t split and get a 4-5 seed they have to win out to get back into the 4-5 seeding.

Their AP ranking is 20, NET 22, KenPom 23 and ESPN has them a 6.

I can't see them any lower than a 6, if they split UCONN and St Johns.

That is why I said they need to sweep the last two in order to get a 4 or 5 seed.  If they split they don’t really move up or down as they are basically in that 6-10 seeding.  I put 6-10 as sometimes weird things happen with the selection committee.  So rating wise they should be a 6 now that doesn’t mean the selection committee will put them at a 6 they could drop lower but they shouldn’t drop any lower than an 8 as long as they split and don’t do an earlier exit in the conference tournament.

That seals it with the loss last night.  The best they can do is a 6th seed and if they lose out and have an early BE tournament exit they may be looking at an 8-10 seed.
