I know you guys are upset and this is now a blood bath, but it wasn't what you guys are pretending it was prior to Love throwing that pick.

It absolutely is exactly what it is with zero pretending.  The Packers have been horrible and you seem to be the only one not to see it.  This game was never competitive.  You are the one that said you thought it would be  a close game and thus have the narrative to support.  Pointing to a couple of things Detroit did wrong that really didn't hurt them in any way versus the catalog of things the Packers have screwed up is just weird.

By that logic, I'd guess 90% of NFL games could be considered competitive around halftime.

Yes, the Lions did one very idiotic thing (well, 2 by the same guy) this game. We've done about 10. It is part of the difference between the two teams.

Yes, we coulda shoulda woulda drove down and maybe gotten a field goal and not thrown the pick. We didn't. The Lions made a play, and we didn't. Even if it hadn't happened, it'd still be 17-6 right now with the Lions having the ball right now. I don't know why you are dying on this hill that we're on their level and have competed with them today when that clearly isn't the case.

It doesn't mean that we can't get there. But right now, as of today? It's not close.

10 is kind.

Another drop. Just put Willis in and get healthy during the bye week. Not worth getting everyone hurt.

Love needs to be benched until he is 100% healthy. He clearly can't play well coming back from injuries prematurely. Fortunately we have a bye this coming week.

One more Detroit score and I think they'll pull the plug

I’m with OSS. They were right there in this thing. All the problems with penalties and drops and the like and this game was still one possession until the boneheaded pick 6. No one is arguing the packers deserved to win or were the better team. But this game was not unwinnable. Some people went into this game today with that mindset, and I get that. But it doesn’t fit what actually happened for 28 minutes.

When was the last time anyone saw Love zip a pass in there?  Seems like everything is a back foot lob.

Yeah when I said I thought Willis should be playing it's due to the weather, Love's injury and the way the game is going. I think the Packers can compete with the Lions but today felt like an uphill battle even before things started going bad. I don't think putting Willis in makes a comeback any less likely, his running ability is a different dimension.

Nice drive going here though.

Almost nothing in here is even a point I'm trying to make and it riddled with straw men but whatever.

The game was close. That's it. It was, by almost any metric.

Do you ever consider the fact that you might be a little bit myopic? If the roles were reversed and you're a Detroit fan, and Josh Jacobs had 100 yards in a quarter do you think you'd be talking about how amazing the Lions are or stressing about about how they need to stop him in a competitive game?

I get you guys are upset at the result but *****. It was 10-3 and we had possession. The box scores was close. I just gave you 4 examples of things DET was doing poorly. What is a competitive game if that isn't?

So you think with all the penalties, dropped passes, stupid decisions, missed FGs and everything else that a team like Detroit was not going to break the game open eventually?  I didn't go into the game with any mindset but seeing how they were playing made things pretty clear pretty early.  This was never a winnable game based on their performance.

LOL, yep, excellent competitive performance today.

I'm sorry your favorite team is losing. If your tantrums make you feel better then please proceed.

Oh, just stop.  What a lazy weak response.

I think teams make adjustments and clean things up in-game all the time. Just because a team played a certain way in a few series does not mean it had to continue. Our problems were all under our own control, so we could have performed better.

And forgive me, but I’m not terribly convinced that in your heart of hearts you didn’t have any expectations either way before this game. I seem to be one of the more optimistic members of this chat tonight, and even I figured we’d lose. But ok, I’ll concede. You know your own mind.

Still think it takes 10 wins to get in the playoffs this year and that's not going to be an easy number to get to.

They only need to play .500 ball the rest of the way. The schedule isn't that tough.

They should make the playoffs. My biggest concern all year has been Love and his turnovers. That is a self inflicted thing, a lot of his interceptions are just awful. With the way they have usually forced takeaways, it should be a strength of the team, but he negates it with his stupid decisions.

Penalties do happen, I would rather have a team that's penalized a lot of of they are aggressive. I would think that would balance out eventually. But you cannot be a starting QB anymore throwing 20 picks. You just can't.

Believe what you want (because it isn't my job to convince you of anything) but no, I didn't.  I thought the game could go either way.  The problem is they don't make the changes and games against awful teams like Jacksonville stay close and games like this are not.

At minny, at Detroit, at Seattle and home against the 49ers will be tough asks
