Another of the great, long-time baseball radio broadcasters is lost to history. Uecker's voice will always be etched in the memory. Sorry that the team couldn't quite "Win One for Ueck," even during this recent run of winning seasons.

There will be a legacy with all those who worked the radio booth with Uecker, but he is one of those irreplaceable legends.

I think that Uecker most likely viewed his entire life as an incredible privilege and I doubt he tied the Brewers winning the World Series to some pinnacle he had to reach. I am sure he would have loved to see it, but I don't think he thought they owed it to him or that we was less fulfilled without it - that is for the fans to do.

It's as shocking as a 90 y/o passing can be. It's tough to imagine a season without his voice.

My mind went back to my childhood and going over to my grandpa’s house and often he’d be in his garage and Ueck would be on the radio. My grandpa would always say “How about them Brewers?” And we would be like “They suck!”

Even though we couldn’t get Ueck a title, he went out with the franchise riding an all-time high of success. And we can still win one for Ueck in 2025.

I've been dreading this day.  Uecker's voice was the sound of summer in Wisconsin my entire life to this point.  He cannot be replaced and he set the bar so high that I do not think anyone can ever reach it.  When he was at his best his combination of baseball knowledge, play calling ability and comedy cannot be matched.  Vin Scully had the voice, Harry Caray had the persona and many have had the baseball acumen.  Ueck had it all.  RIP Mr. Baseball.  Thank you for every summer evening that you brought a smile to my face and, often, laughter.  Thank you for every story.  Thank you for every "Hey, get up, get up, get up and get outta here!"  Most of all, thank you for making me feel like I was at every game and turning even the most mundane of games into something worth listening to.  You made everyone feel like you were their friend.  Summers in Wisconsin will never feel the same.

Not sure what his health situation looked like in October, as he may have understandably kept it private, but I wonder if they knew it was failing and that there wasn’t going to be another shot to win one for him after that one.

The type of cancer he had is brutal and quick.

My Dad passed this summer, 2 months after being diagnosed. They very well could have known (and caught it early) but with that type of hyper aggressive stuff you never know how long they have.

I did not hear about the cancer until now but I suspected maybe it was.

They say what type of cancer? Not that it matters, just curious.

I quickly threw together a playlist of clips I'd saved over the years (2008, 2011 mostly) of some Ueck calls and figured this group may want to take a listen.

Here's the relatively short playlist:

Small cell lung cancer is a death sentence. I must’ve listened to Uecker at least 3,000 times in my life. The passion he had for Brewers baseball was incredible in light of what he likely was physically experiencing during the 2024 season, and mentally knowing the end of his life was approaching.

Bob Uecker to call every Brewers home game in person during ...

Quoting myself here, but if you never heard about Bob's alter ego, this is the one clip you should definitely listen to:

He knew. I'm pretty certain those were tears for the end of his time with Bob, not for a heartbreaking loss.

This is the first time I've heard that. Thank you for posting it. Yes, he knew. You can hear the hurt in his voice. Just one of the many great sidekicks that Ueck has had over the years.

Prayers for Bob Uecker's family which seems to extend well beyond his biological family ... may the Lord bring comfort and closeness to Himself and one another.

We shall miss Bob!  ❤️‍🩹

When I was a little dude, there were like 15 games on TV. Ueck's calls were all we had. On West Coast trips where I had to go to bed before the game ended, I'd scooch over by the open window (what's air conditioning?) and eavesdrop on my elderly neighbor who listened to the games on his screened-in porch. Ueck calling a game was my bedtime story. RIP.
