We knew this day was coming eventually, and after seeing so many players, front office members and his broadcasting mates in tears after the playoff loss in October, it certainly seemed like that might have been his last game on the mic.  But, I was hoping that it might just mean he was retiring while he was still healthy to enjoy some years away from the park.  This is absolutely heartbreaking.  Safe to say that Brewers baseball will never be the same.  I feel like I just lost a close family member!  😪

The saddest day of Brewers baseball. Way worse than the one last October and puts the tears in Yeli's and the players’ faces after that game because of Ueck into context.

It absolutely sucks that his last memory of the Brewers was Devin blowing a late lead in an elimination game of the playoffs.

I know that if you could ask him, it made no difference to him and he had a wonderful life. I still hate it for him anyway.

I remember that, when Yelich was all choked up and watery eyes and he kept it private as I'm sure Uke wanted. A baseball icon for sure. RIP Bob.

Not sure what his health situation looked like in October, as he may have understandably kept it private, but I wonder if they knew it was failing and that there wasn’t going to be another shot to win one for him after that one.

Don't know what else to say than it's sad news. I guess the glass half full part of me thinks he had an incredible, full life. That he could do what he loved to the very end is the cherry on top.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Uke's family said he had been battling cancer since 2023. I think that's why Yelich was so emotional talking about him after the playoff loss. He knew this was the last chance.

An incredible man who had an unbelievable impact on not only this franchise but the game as a whole. We all knew in the back of our minds that this day was coming, but that never stopped us from hoping Ueck would live forever. I truly feel like a piece of my childhood is gone.

I’m not one to get star struck easily. There’s only been two times I’ve ever cried over a celebrity.Norm. McDonald and Eddie Van Halen. Today is the third.

I did not hear about the cancer until now but I suspected maybe it was.

I rarely tear up when a celebrity dies, but I did today. Rest in Peace in the Front Row in Heaven, Ueck. God's Peace 💔

Yeah, this is the fourth celebrity whose death has really, truly saddened me. The others: John Candy, Walter Payton, and Mister Rogers.

It's crazy how close you can feel to someone you have never met. Most summers I spent more time with Uecker than I did my own father.

RIP to the best Brewer of all time. What an impact you had on my life my friend.

Absolutely heartbreaking and gut wrenching. We all knew this day was likely coming but it certainly doesn't make it any easier when the news hits. I have such indelible memories cruising around Milwaukee and Waukesha county with my pops prepping his houses (real estate agent) while listening to Mr. Uecker on the radio. Those memories will never fade. "Get up, get up, get outta here! Gone for Deer!" A legend has passed. May we celebrate his memory always.
