Still some of the best video there is of Shears pitching and it simply is not good enough to know anything much about Tanner Shears.    I hear promising things but in truth he is one of the guys I know the least about.

Tanner Shears is said to have a big weirdo pitch now in the Minors and I would like to see it.     Anyone out there have any place to see him pitch a few innings?

Shears (Tommy John surgery, March 2024) only pitched as a pro in 2023 thus far.

Find his game log here.

The longest of his 41 relief outings split between Carolina and Wisconsin has been 2.1 innings, accomplished three times.

With an MiLB TV subscription (highly suggested), you can pull up specific games, such as this July 4th Timber Rattlers home game vs. Beloit in which Shears went 2.1 hitless innings, pitching through the 8th, striking out four and walking one.

As it was a home game, the Wisconsin YouTube page has the highlight package, so go the 02:40 minute mark for Shears on the mound for three of those "Strike 3's".

Based on the timing of the surgery, a July 2025 return, when he'd be 26 years and one month old, would be welcome news.

A-Rob gave me the update copium I needed HERE.

Long and the short is he's currently pitching off a mound and a late May/June return could potentially be on the late side of a full-season return.

Do they use him as a bullpen guy or a starter?

That pitch is evil .   I hope he had it when he gets out of the Tommy thing .    What is the overall Brewers thinking on him?  They talk about everyone they have  but have said almost nothing about this guy.     I like that knuckleler thing.

Shears was used exclusively in relief for his one pro season.

He had 42 BB, 11 HBP and 12 wild pitches in 49 innings.

Hard to be a starter with that kind of command.

Signed as an undrafted free agent in January 2023, then BrewersPD highlighted him in his lone season as shown above. He missed all of last season and won't be available until mid-2025. I'm not sure where (or why until he is back on a mound) the team would specifically comment on him since the moment of surgery. Who is the "they" you refer to?

Those who cover Rattlers,Catfishes,Shuckers and well Sounds.   These talking heads love to talk about prospects. They just do not seem to have anything to say about Shears.
