Not a ton of hits throughout the organization today. But Biloxi getting a bunch of runs trying to close out a 7-2 game in the 9th.  Mudcats with a rare lead.

And Yeager gives up a 2-out single - stop me if you heard that before - but gets the next batter to pop out. 7-2 Shuckers win. An incredible first half continues for them. Let’s hope Cornielle can match Crow this evening in the night capper.

TRats tied the game then give up 2 runs. And it’s a 3-1 game early. Let’s see if their magic can continue.

Oh boy. I’m not watching but Juan Baez ejected after a ground out - must have been upset with the call??? I’ll try to watch later.  Sam Garcia ok, but Dinges with a K, and PB and a catcher interference error already.

Carolina clinging to a 4-2 lead.  Chandler Welch through 5.  Only 1 BB which will be the key for him. 7 hits allowed, but only 1 XBH. Maybe he can turn the corner this summer in Carolina.

Ok. I won’t praise any pitchers anymore 😟

‘Chandler Welch walks first batter of the 6th and gives up a HR. Tied game now. Ugh.

Garcia gives up a pair more runs. 5-1 deficit..

Gulp.  2 more runs. 7-1 Loons over TRats.

And Welch walks the next batter. Yikes.

These two college draft picks from last year are not finding their footing tonight.

Wasn't able to watch but yet another solid start from Coleman Crow today.

75 pitches, 53 strikes, 11 called strikes, 14 swinging strikes

70.7% strike rate

33% whiff rate

14.7% called strike rate

18.7% swinging strike rate

33.3% called strike+whiff rate

And Welch’s night is done after a triple. It’s now 5-4 Hillcats lead. And Flores is in.

Garcia gets out of the 3rd, but it’s a 7-1 deficit. TRats will need to get the offense going and hold the Loons off the board from here on out if they have a chance to start a comeback/

Maybe I need to turn it off. After a K by Flores, the next batter (Hawke) gets a double and it’s now 6-4 deficit for the Mudacts. Man this slump is real, and not fun to watch.

TRats go down in order. Offense did not wake up.

OK I’ll take a quick break.

And TRats still have nothing going offensively.  9-1 in the 6th.

Mudcats get one back but still trail 7-5. And only 7 hits to get those 5 runs.

Shuckers 0-0 early.  Also - ready for this - getting outhit.

What does the data say on Di Turi? Any EV stuff?

He’s sneaky put together a great year for a teenager in A ball. Gonna out OPS Made soon enough.

The EV's have apparently popped up, but with a significant jump in his swing and miss

Has there actually been a significant jump in swing and miss? Per Fangraphs he was at 69.4% contact rate in 2024 in Carolina. Not including yesterday he's at 69.7% contact rate in 2025.

I remember Baseball America talking about it in one of their podcasts!

Was that comparing all of 2024 to 2025? Or 2024 A ball to 2025 A ball? If it was all of 2024 to 2025 then the contact rate dropping would make sense because of the ACL numbers being included.

Either way I’ll take his development as if he does K more but with more gap power, his defense is steady, not great, but good at all three IF spots (granted I’ve seen him most at 2B and SS but I believe he has played 3B and I didn’t notice so that’s good/bad).  He has been a nice prospect to watch this season, particularly in light of Bitonti and Payne significant struggles and Adamczewski’s injury, it’s really now Made/Pena/DiTuri at the moment just trying to keep that offense afloat.

I think it was all of 2024/25, and perhaps a note to his projected profile upon signing from the DSL as a hit over power prospect with strong defensive chops (it was a month+ ago now, apologies!)
