Seems pretty harsh.  Yea he's had a tough year so far but it is partially affected by injury so bounce back should come.  And keep in mind that tough year is the only reason he'd possibly be available and not expensive to acquire, he had a pretty darn solid first year at the plate.  

things that check the boxes for Brewers would be that salary is still low, has years of control left (likely options too), and is versatile to play several positions.  Things against besides a bad year so far, would be that his D doesn't seem great according to quick look. Though he looks fine/ok at 2B.   So getting him and planning to start him would mean Turang to SS mid season.   I'd think the more likely thing if acquired would be to take  Monostario's roster spot to be back up IF for everyone. Plus its good he can play OF.  Also to note he hits R so could take many of Turang's starts vs lefties.   

Definitely seems one worth kicking the tires on and see what it might cost. But also no need to overpay and be desperate. Our IF offense has obviously been rough this year, though at least its been passable lately, but think how much worse it would look if due to injury have to start Monostario for a month or two.  Couldn't hurt to have a better insurance policy if it doesn't cost much

I like Fitzgerald, he probably ends up as more a utility guy for us. In the half year he play last year, he was on track to be a 25/30 player (not much power this year). Defensively he is pretty good at 2B, was below average at SS, and play an OK OF. I am sure he could play some 3B and 1B if needed. Moving out of SF is also usually an upgrade for bats as well. I doubt SF would sell cheap but I could get behind a Hall for Fitzgerald type deal. Maybe extend it to like Hall and Boeve for Fitzgereld and Bo Davidson.

Hall for Fitzgerald I’d imagine they’d accept and might be better for us long term anyway.

With these needs above  in mind, would Hudson, Bauers, and a lesser starting pitching prospect like pipeline #29 Manuel Rodriguez be enough for Fitzgerald?  I’d do that one over the Hall trade if both would be acceptable.?

ETA that we clear a 40 man spot in this one which could be helpful.

I don't see what Fitzgerald adds. His numbers last year were fluky, driven by BABIP and a high HR/FB rate. Statcast's xwOBA has him as a well below average hitter, and much worse this year. He's not better than any starter he could potentially replace. So what's the benefit? Monasterio and Collins already cover a bunch of positions, and so can Seigler if/when called up. Maybe he's a small upgrade on Monasterio, but not enough to give up anything for him. I'd much rather have Hall.

We say no pretty quickly I think. 

This feels like a deal just to make a deal as Durbin and Fitzgerald are redundant. Hall was the main piece of the Burnes deal and we are going to give him up after only 60 innings with us for an infielder who doesn't provide one of the two things we need (another left handed bat) and might not provide the other thing we need (power off the bench)?

He would be an upgrade to Mona but it would be silly to lose a piece like DL Hall for a 25th man upgrade. We can upgrade Mona in 16 different ways and none of them cost us a major league arm.
