Sat. 8/9 - Just-Turned 19-year-old RHP Miqueas Mercedes Set to Make Mudcat Debut

Not going to watch the T-Rats right now. May come back to see what happens later. Shuckers win was clutch. The Muddies late lose was difficult. Overall some nice outings by several Mudcats either pitching, defense of clutch hits.

Yerlin closes the door! Woot Woot!

Independence Day Summer GIF

He strands a runner on 2B with a 3-2 swinging punch out in the seventh pitch of the final AB. Let's GO! 2.0 IP, 0 H, 3 BB, 1 WP, 4 K, and 0 R. He walks the Yerlin Tightrope and makes it to the other side. 4-3 T-Rats.

RHP Babe Kahle pitched a purrrrfect hitless, walkless clean ninth frame. In his post-game interview, he cites Babe Bauers as his greatest inspiration and the motivation behind his 58 mph soft curve. Sounds lose 9-5. RHP Justin Yeager finally surrendered his first Triple-A run. I imagine LHP Brian Fitzpatrick will have a restless night.

Go the 02:28:00 hour/minute mark here of the Biloxi game if you are an MiLB.TV subscriber. We shouldn't complain (but will), because you won't see the actual sliding catch, described as a really good play. The camera never panned to the outfield during the play itself. What you will see is the aftermath in which LF Adam Hall is removed, barely being able to place any pressure at all on his left leg, aided off the field. As the Smokies announcer says, "that stinks".

In a game thread. During a game? We will judge every player, every manager, every concession stands worker, every fan in attendance (I'm looking at you @MudcatsfaninBrunsCO).

AND, then, in retrospect, take it all back and highlight the positives. My personal vendetta with Stanley goes back to him leaving in Cornielle last year after taking a come backer off his throwing arm and then leaving him in to give up 7 runs at Fredericksburg (I think it was the Fred Nats). That game t!cked me off. And, yes, it has colored my thinking. We need a cage match. I'm like a wife whose husband hasn't done his dishes 😅.

Also, thank you for clarifying for the readers here. I already knew this. I'm simply being irrational.

I'm kinda lost here.... what happened??

Joseph was lamenting on Stanley’s managing of pitchers in late/tight games, and it was brought up that a lot of that is pre-determined, well to which this reply was meant (I think) for Joseph to say yeah but we still are in the moment during the game thread and look at every player, manager not through the development lens but through the “let’s win tonight” perspective, and this a-plies to us fans too. Probably because you are the most notable fan and have been at the Mudcats games he referenced you, I’m guessing. That’s how I took it.

Bullpen management yesterday was the tipping point, with Reyes struggling and left in, and Bjorn Johnson being left in too long, it nearly cost the first game, and did cost the second game

Yeah, I was being silly. Just having fun on a Saturday. I was joking that not only am I overly scrutinizing the manager and players but I was going into the stands and analyzing. Also, game threads are merely representative of being invested in a game n the moments of the game itself - ie emotionally invested in winning. They don't represent my opinions held after contemplation and real thought. It's easy to get caught up in the games. In the end, I just want the players and coaching staffs to experience the fulfillment of their goals.
