How does Milwaukee line up against the Dodgers?

C- Contreras > Smith

1B- Freeman > Vaughn

2B- Turang > Edman

3B- Durbin = Hernandez

SS-:Betts > Ortiz

LF-  Chourio > Call

CF- Pages > Perkins

RF- Hernandez > Frelick

DH- Ohtani > Yelich

Yelich to LF, Chourio to CF, DH Hoskins or Bauer's? That would give LF and CF to Milwaukee.

SP- Yamamoto, Ohtani, Snell, Glasnow > Peralta, Priester, Misorowski, Quintana

Hopefully Quintana can make a quality start when called on.

Pen- Ashby, Megill, Koenig, Uribe, Patrick, Mears > Kershaw, Vesia, Trenien, Sasaki, Sheehan< Wrobleski

This might be where the Brewers have the biggest advantage.

Murphy > Roberts

Hands down, Murphy is a better manager and decision maker.  Hopefully that is the difference maker.

Dodgers 6, Brewers 5

This is very debatable...  Had Murphy not tried to be cute and change things up to to change things up in game 3, the series could have been over a lot sooner.

Murphy is a likeable guy, players seem to like him, but all the extra stuff, the pocket pancakes, kids at the pressers, etc, are just noise.

Better decision maker?  I guess I don't know enough about Roberts to make a knowledgeable comparison.

He's simply drawing media attention away from a young team. It's silly, but effective.

My belief going into the playoffs were that the Cubs were the toughest potential matchup for a Brewers team that wants to put the ball in play, due to their defenders, and that the Dodgers were more likely to give up small-ball runs. I hope that rings true.

But the Dodger pitching staff seems to be coming around. But do they have the pitching DEPTH the Brewers have, particularly in the bullpen? Probably.

The Dodgers have better players, individually. But the Brewers were able to grind them down in the regular season. I suspect they will put Roberts in some binds in terms of making pitching changes. One or two fortunate walks/HBPs/errors in the middle innings may thin out the bullpen depth as the series goes on.

Chourio's hammy is going to keep him out of CF.

I just want to get ahead of any potential Ashby slender here. He was overworked down the stretch and overused in the Cubs series. He'll be needed and a valuable piece against the Dodgers. Probably could use an extra day of rest though, so not appearing in game 1 would be a blessing. But don't anyone confuse a few bad pitches from an overworked, overexposed guy as not being worthy of a roster spot. His final contribution to a now won NLCS was striking out Kyle Tucker.

Yep. Murphy really rode Ashby hard down the stretch.

I just hope he has enough juice in that arm for two more series'.

I mean, how good a manager do you have to be with 3x the payroll and MVPs/All-Stars up and down the roster?

Well, I guess the counter-argument is the Mets....
