Of all the hitters that are impressing on the Brewers farm, I think the Braylon Payne is quietly putting up one of the most impressive seasons of anyone. It's easy to forget about him, given that he's on a team with Fischer, Adamczewski, Dinges, Bitonti and Pena. 

He is supposed be a defensive CF like Lara. But he (age 19) has 10 HR already and is not far off Fischer (22) and Adamczewski (21) in OPS on the T-Rats.  Think he might deserve some bigger attention soon.

If you go to T-Rats games, Payne is far from forgotten or lacking attention. 

He is a major fan favorite, and on autograph Sundays, his line is just as long as Fischer and Pena.  Those three guys are even put away from the others to accommodate their lines...  Last auto Sunday, people started lining up in the 4th inning to get in Payne's line early.

Josiah Ragsdale Wins Midwest League Player of the Week Award
Wisconsin outfielder on a tear 

GRAND CHUTE, WI – Josiah Ragsdale stayed hot last week for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to be named as the Midwest League Player of the Week for his performance in the series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels.  Ragsdale, MLB Pipeline’s #30 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers system, extended his current on-base streak to 32 games as he helped lead the Timber Rattlers to a 5-1 record in the six-game series against the Kernels at Neuroscience Group Field.

Ragsdale went 10-for-24 (.417) with two homers, five doubles, seven RBI, and nine runs scored in the set with Cedar Rapids.  He had a 1.408 OPS in the series.  Ragsdale ended his series with the Kernels on Sunday by going 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored.  His home run was a lead-off shot in the first inning off Minnesota Twins pitcher Bailey Ober, who was making a rehabilitation start for Cedar Rapids.

Milwaukee selected Ragsdale in the seventh round of the 2025 draft out of Boston College.  During his 32-game on-base streak – the longest by a Timber Rattler this season, Ragsdale is 46-for-121 (.380) with twelve doubles, a triple, four homers, seventeen RBI, and 37 runs scored.  He has also walked 24 times and stolen ten bases in 32 games with a 1.088 OPS.

He is the third Rattler to win the Midwest League Player of the Week this season.  Braylon Payne and Andrew Fischer have also won the award in 2026.

Rattlers Sweep Midwest League Weekly Awards with Wins by Dickinson and Torres
Dickinson stayed hot at the plate and Torres pitched a gem to gain recognition

GRAND CHUTE, WI – The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have swept the Midwest League’s weekly awards heading into the four-day All-Star Break.  Daniel Dickinson has been named the Player of the Week and Wande Torres has won the Pitcher of the Week.

Torres, a free agent signing out of the Dominican Republic in 2022, was magnificent against the Beloit Sky Carp on July 9 at home.  He allowed one hit, hit a batter, walked none, and struck out eight over seven innings to earn the win.  That performance was the most recent in a line of stellar outings for the left-hander.

In his last four appearances, Torres is 4-0 while allowing two earned runs, walking one, and striking out 29 over 25-2/3 innings.

Dickinson, the sixth-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers out of LSU in 2025, was outstanding at the plate against the Sky Carp during the six-game series.  He was 9-for-20 (.450) with seven walks, three homers, seven stolen bases, ten runs, and nine RBI.  Dickinson had an OPS of 1.593 as he helped the Rattlers stay in first place in the second-half Western Division standings by a game over Beloit heading into the four-day break.

Dickinson’s recent surge began at the start of the second half.  He is hitting .400 with five homers, fifteen RBI, eighteen RBI, and seventeen stolen bases in eighteen games played this half.

Five Rattlers have won Midwest League Weekly Awards this season.  Braylon Payne, Andrew Fischer, and Josiah Ragsdale won the Player of the Week award before Dickinson this year.  Torres is the first Rattler to win the Pitcher of the Week award in 2026.
