You're mistaking people responding to you negatively not your message negatively. People just get very tired of you always trying to talk up the Cubs and talk down the Brewers. You picking a date in the middle of June to decide the offense isn't that good is just cherry picking data to justify your opinion that the Brewers aren't that good and should be scared of the Cubs.

To be fair I’d rather rate something by how it’s going now than what it was doing three months ago.    That’s actually a reasonable take

So you think Jackson Chourio is a below average hitter and Contreras is a sub replacement level player because that's what they have been doing the last month?

You seem to be agreeing with an opinion and observation I posted a few weeks ago that the Brewers success has been a result of exceptional run prevention combined with average offense.

That post did not produce positive responses. But if you look at the results of the last 6 weeks ago that statement is almost irrefutable. The last4 games have been a perfect example of that. The Brewers have managed to go 2-2 while scoring just 9 runs.

Couple things:

- the Brewers have scored 10 runs in the last 4 games.

- they scored 17 runs in the 3 games prior, so are you sure you’re not just cherry picking a small sample size to make a point?

First of all, winning the division still has some value as an accomplishment. I don’t want to give the Cubs and their fans the pleasure of a division title.

Second, the 3 seed would be in a bracket opposite the 1 seed so, if that’s the Dodgers, it would push that possible matchup off to the NLCS.

Honestly the dodgers are lame.   They might not even be the one seed.   They just throw out there B side rotation until the end of the season and then put in their ringers when the playoffs start who then proceed to go 8-9 innings every game

I'd rather have Black on the roster than Yelich right now.

Black is having a really mediocre year in AAA, but you hafta wonder where his mindset is. You know he has to realize Yelichs' struggles, and he DID put up nice numbers in his short stint here. There might be conversations upcoming about an IL 'break' for Yelich. For all we know there have been & he's balked.

Good news is that if he takes a break, you really can add anyone, position-wise, because you're replacing someone who might as well leave his glove at home & use it as a pot-holder. Flip side is who, exactly? Black? Baddoo? He was a house afire, then got hurt & is now back playing. Adams had the 3 HR game, but hasn't really launched a hot streak from there. And no, I don't think you'll see any of the AA guys.

No.   But the offense has been trending bad for awhile now.    There could be fire with that smoke.   That’s all people are saying.   It’s a legitimate take

we also have guys that maybe hitting well above there ability too.   Like Bauers, Ortiz, Pratt etc.

maybe Mitchell had a hot month and he loses it too

We aren’t playing the Rockies in the playoffs though.

We can use the 19 runs we scored off the Cubs in our first series against them then, if preferred

Yeah the offense hasn't had their best month and half. You don't think Chourio and Contreras slumping hard during that stretch has anything to do with the offensive slump? Last year anytime in the last two months of the season that the Brewers offense had a bad game or two Bruised Crew would say they are reverting back to who their early season form which is who they are. He will always find a way to critique the Brewers and uplift the Cubs.

That’s your read.

Why is picking that date that comes right after the aberrational Coors and Vegas trip “cherry picking”. How is it different than what people do all,of the time when trying to describe a recent trend (positive or negative). When describing a slump people start at a high point. When describing a hot streak they start at a low point.

But it is nice to see people admit that they are engaging in ad hominem  reactions instead of addressing the message itself. I have come to expect Pavlovian reactions to seeing my screen name on a post

Personally I think the board has more value with some counterbalance to unbridled optimism. I think that comments in mid June that a division title  is a near certainty because of projections based on assumptions layered on assumptions are ridiculous.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The Braves are on fire lately....and are tied with the Dodgers in the loss column for the 2 seed.

This is going to be a barnburner race down the stretch - one where it would be sweet to see the Dodgers get the 3 seed.

You literally will always find the negative slant. You are a pessimist and have little brother syndrome when it comes to the Cubs. Last year the Brewers offense was on fire from June on but you were constantly trying to pick holes in it and say the offense from April and May was really who the offense was. This year that has flipped and instead of keeping the same train of logic from last year, you now think what has happened recently is indicative of the actual quality of the offense.

This was you last August.

if you feel the need to convince yourself down the homestretch every season that the division is slipping away when a few games oscillate toward the Cubs’ side of the standings, as they will many times throughout the course of a season, no one can force you to do otherwise

Well.   We will see when we play them.     I hope you are right and we pound them for 7 runs a game.    But im guessing you wouldn’t put your money in that.    Or even five runs a game

The Brewers have really been scuffling on offense for awhile - what's amazing is regardless of their competition, theyre tied for the 4th best record in baseball since the AS break despite those scuffles.

Get some key bats like chourio and contreras hot, and the other angst over bottom of the order bats slumping again goes away.  They have to get the DH spot figured out before the playoffs - and unfortunately Yelich has shown zero signs of being the answer.

That position/roster spot has long been the weakness for this organization that prioritizes positional versatility and defense over a bat-first player that can hit both RH and LH pitching well.  People assumed Yelich would shift at least OK into the full time DH role as he aged and became useless defensively in the OF while his contract stayed $$$$.  That appears to be wrong.

The Brewers need 1 more good LH hitter in their lineup - that weakness is the perfect role for what Yelich should still be at this point in his career...so damn frustrating.

You also do this literally every single year where you tell us how concerned we should be about the team behind the Brewers in the standings. They have won the division 4 of the last 5 years and every time you're saying how the 5.5 game lead is basically nothing.

Not one time have I said that a 5.5 game lead is basically nothing.

But, yes,, my years of following baseball have told me how quickly leads can disappear, My attitude about this is described in my signature.

Compared to a lot of posters I don’t post that often  For example I don’t post 10 times in every game thread that Yelich doesn’t belong in the lineup,

So, if my style bothers you that much it should be peretty easy for you to put me on ignore. At my age I’m not changing

Per @adambr2's post above you said the Cubs and Phillies were ready to take over the Brewers August 24th, 2025. The Brewers at that time had a 5 game lead with 31 games to go. Maybe you haven't verbatim said a 5.5 game lead is basically nothing but you post like it is and that comment from adam is a great example of it.

Oops, I was thinking the score last night was 4-2. But, 9 runs or 10 runs the point is the same.

This was not intended to be anything other than using the last few games to illustrate how the Brewers success is based on exceptional run prevention and average offense. Many teams scoring just 10 runs in 4 games would be lucky to win 1, but the Brewers won 2.

Are you cherry picking by only mentioning the prior 3 games instead of the prior 4 (which would include a shutout)? 😀

It’s getting past my bedtime. So, you and your gang of friends can pound away but I won’t be responding any more tonight.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

We've lived through collapses in '07, '14, and '22. Heck, 2008 too until the late resurgence. I don't blame anyone here if some of that scar tissue is still there, and this lead feels smaller.

Same thing when we see the offense sputter. That has ended a few recent seasons, doesn't surprise me to see it provoke a reaction.
