Yelich needs an IL stint, everyone knows it...even Murph - almost think he keeps putting in the lineup hoping he tweaks something to force him onto it

He has been the worst hitter on this roster for way, way too long - and he is their primary DH option.

I'd rather have Black on the roster than Yelich right now.

At 65, I no longer swing a bat … except for whiffle ball with the grandkids

This is an honest question. Why?

Better ERA

Better ERA plus

Better WHIP

More runs per game

Better record

Is it just your feelings?

Yes, many people have feelings. They aren’t robots whose emotions are controlled by numbers, some of which can be very misleading..

A normal non-robotic human’s feelings are going to be affected by recency,. Last season after the scuffling through mid May the team was incredibly hot for about 75 games. Normal humans are going to feel good about that.

The full season offensive numbers for this year’s team are bolstered by a lot of runs in March and April and 10 days in June that included the trips to Coors and Vegas.  For the last six weeks or so the offense has been very mediocre. I think it’s normal for a rational person to think that the future (at least the near future) is going to look like the last 45 days unless and until it shows signs of improvement.

You have made the comment that some posters, especially older posters “don’t believe in statistics” or don’t understand advanced stats. I don’t think it’s a matter of believing or understanding, but questioning whether those statistics are predictive of the future.

Stupid Skubal, the one silver lining was “at least he gets the Cubs right away” and he can’t beat them.

Well, in fairness, he gave up only two runs. The Dodgers' bullpen gave up three more (so far) and they've scored only one run.

Watching this game, I don't know if I've ever seen something so incredibly clutch & incredibly mind-numbingly stupid from the same team in one game. I'm sure it was brought up, but the Contreras challenge to strike out Reynolds w/runners at the corners & one out---I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he realized it MIGHT have the bottom of the zone even though he had to lunge for it. But the fact it was w/two strikes & it was Reynolds made it a mammoth moment.

Then there's the opposite end of the spectrum. Sigh. You're leading off an inning, you get to 2-0 with neither pitch close to the zone. In that scenario you can criticize a hitter for swinging at the next pitch regardless of where it is. To chase the next pitch---at your feet---just throw away all Top Ten lists of Yelich disappointments in 2026. AFA head-up-your-arse moments are concerned you can't get worse than that unless you, I dunno, swing, hit a ground ball, and run out of the box towards third base. Incredible. You can get angry but at the same time feel bad for someone who is that incredibly messed up at the plate.

Three hits for Chourio is very good. All of them going to the right side of the diamond makes it even better.

Hmmm. I was told the other day that the Cubs couldn’t go on a winning streak because they would be facing Skubal today.

To be clear, I wasn’t necessarily talking about a long winning streak with no losses, but more of a winning “stretch” like winning 11 out of 14 while the Brewers are going 7-7 to finish their run of 17 games in 17 days.

I think that for some posters it's extremely easy to believe or understand statistics & believe they're predictive as long as they show negative tendencies. Sorry, but I don't see any rationality to expect similar results (positive or negative) to follow a cold stretch. Or a hot one.

If they continue to struggle to score runs consistently they'll be quite reliant on the elements of the team that they've leaned on for a long time--run prevention. That's let them down lately a time or three. If some of the ABs I've seen tonite from people not named Yelich or Mitchell continue, then something else.

I think you're right about the human mind & recency. But in a 162-game season I think the best prescription for that is a strong dose of 'get over it'.

I don’t think anyone was guaranteeing that the Cubs can’t beat Skubal. I know I wasn’t.

The Brewers are 5.5 games up in the division. On this day last year, they were 3 up. At their pace for the season, they would win 100 games.

If they show no improvement after the trade deadline and perform exactly how they have all season and win 100 games and that still isn’t enough, tip your cap.

But the Cubs aren’t going to win 101 games.

You also do this literally every single year where you tell us how concerned we should be about the team behind the Brewers in the standings. They have won the division 4 of the last 5 years and every time you're saying how the 5.5 game lead is basically nothing.

They will likely always be a problem.

I mentioned awhile back that it would be great if you go wire-to-wire in the division or close to it w/o being seriously challenged. We've done that a few times over the years. But if they get challenged at some point, great. Bring it on. Answer it. If you're unable to do it successfully you weren't going to reach your goals anyway. I saw a little bit of the way LA swung the bats tonite. I saw how Chicago scored their go-ahead run. Part of being in a division with that team is surviving the stretch(es) where they experience their storybook bull****.

You seem to be agreeing with an opinion and observation I posted a few weeks ago that the Brewers success has been a result of exceptional run prevention combined with average offense.

That post did not produce positive responses. But if you look at the results of the last 6 weeks ago that statement is almost irrefutable. The last4 games have been a perfect example of that. The Brewers have managed to go 2-2 while scoring just 9 runs.

Didn't see that post. I would tend to agree with it.

Had I seen it, I don't know if I would've given you a thumbs-up though. Really don't want it going to your head😉.

You're mistaking people responding to you negatively not your message negatively. People just get very tired of you always trying to talk up the Cubs and talk down the Brewers. You picking a date in the middle of June to decide the offense isn't that good is just cherry picking data to justify your opinion that the Brewers aren't that good and should be scared of the Cubs.

How did Biloxi suddenly become Colorado Springs? It has always been challenging to hit the ball there. Now, every player is mashing & home runs are like singles.

MLB had leftover balls from 2018-2019.  Only explanation maybe.

It really doesn’t matter if we finish ahead of the cubs if we don’t make the top two imo

or matters that much

First of all, winning the division still has some value as an accomplishment. I don’t want to give the Cubs and their fans the pleasure of a division title.

Second, the 3 seed would be in a bracket opposite the 1 seed so, if that’s the Dodgers, it would push that possible matchup off to the NLCS.
