Gets to 0-2 on two fastballs, throws two curveballs that Roden makes contact on, then blows him away with another fastball.  Just go fastball until they can prove they can catch up to it.

You can't just be a one pitch wonder. You have to throw other pitches to keep them honest.

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.

Once again, it is 100% about roster flexibility. Once you add a prospect to the roster, he can't be removed without exposing him to waivers. They'd never do that with anyone actually valuable.

Does a potential lockout year affect service time?  If there is a lockout do MLB contracts all pause or advance a year?

Thats a great point.  Surely we have  some players on the 40 that aren’t long for our MLB roster that don’t we?

but I also understand your point.  Once a prospect is on the 40, they stay on the 40

If you're adding a prospect to the 40 man roster, you're removing one of the non-prospects and then just optioning the prospect back down to the minors whenever the player he replaced comes back.  You don't have to expose them to waivers lol.

I’d prefer them to be out of the zone more though.

True but you can’t just throw one pitch and get away with it. These are ML hitters they’ll adjust. Which is why you gotta at least keep them honest and throw off speed pitches once in awhile

Maybe, but adding a guy you don't have to just makes flexibility all that much tougher. They like having the flexibility churn the back part of it.

Yeah… I don’t get it.  I get that kids called up for a cup of coffee from AA might struggle… but they might also do well.

AAAA guys pulled off the DFA wire, guaranteed to do poorly

MLB teams manage a 26-man active roster and a 40-man reserve list. Moving a player between the minors and the majors requires navigating strict optional assignments, waivers, and protection rules that heavily impact player development and a teams long term depth.

But that prospect stays on the 40-man.

I dont see Black or Baddoo playing for the Brewers and they are both on the 40 man. How many guys would have to be hurt before Black is called back up?

Anyways, both those guys can be removed and Fish or Adams can be called up.

Black has had chance after chance to prove himself at the major league level and has failed every time.

Why is it every time we have a true Ace we completely forget to score runs for him.

Trying to remember if it was Woody or Burns that one season we would struggle to score two runs for

That prospect will then be locked out next year.

This is the information I’ve been waiting to hear. Thank you. That clarifies several recent roster moves for me.

They obviously consider those guys important to their outfield depth. Hence why Rom was dropped to add Bae.

Black would definitely be somebody to see if you can get anything for just to clear the spot on the 40.

That just is not true.  Over the past two years he has been good in MLB, it's his minor league hitting that has been bad (more like not MLB projectable than like say Wilken AAA bad). So the proof isn't the 41 MLB PAs, its the 606 minor league PAs.

Tyler Blacks Minor League #'s were great until this year. He did not produce up here in the MLB.

Even with triple digit gas you got to be careful with these guys.

They are sitting Dead red until they have a reason not to.
