It seems pretty straightforward this year. I wanted to maybe carry an extra position player and leave off a pitcher because they’ve been known to do that, but I couldn’t find one that made sense. They simply don’t really have much use for Lockridge. Naylor? I guess maybe if he gets the September call up and performs well, they could carry an extra catcher to have Sanchez off the bench against lefties. 

If they go that route, maybe Gasser is left off. For now, he’s the emergency guy to mop up innings if a game gets into a blowout situation. 

Miz/Henderson/Harrison are your big 3 and I’d guess if they need a 4th starter it comes down to Drohan or May depending on how both look in September, but a bullpen heavy approach is possible. 

No room for Bryse or Grant Anderson.

I would guess Naylor over Gasser. 5 lefties in the pen isn't necessary unless Drohan starts a game 4.

I agree we might not need five lefties in the bullpen. Grant Anderson could be fine, too.

The Brewers don't tend to carry 13 pitchers, they have not done so in recent history. Maybe they do this year because that is their strength versus having a Lockridge or Naylor sit on the bench. Having Gasser face some lefties or provide some length in a blowout might have more value.

If you are trying to run through Shohei, Freeman, PCA, and Matt Olson, you could use all of the lefties you can get. But when you have Gasser, and in varying roles, Harrison, Drohan, and Ashby, it gives them tremendous flexibility, roster-wise in each series. And if any of those guys have issues with certain RH pitches, like Henderson's changeup, or Senzatela's sinker, they could really get matchup-happy in the playoffs.

We can all agree that every position player on the 26 right now besides Naylor is a slam dunk, right? I don’t think we’ve ever seen that before where the position players were just completely clear. Like last year we had that little bit of a surprise with Rhys. 

The only real question is the 26th man. They can afford some sort of specialist but it’s just hard to identify what the need really is.

Andrew Fischer, need some power off the bench. I know they won't do it but it would be fun to dream.
