Although they are a "rival", I'm glad to see them playing Lane for once. He's always been a nice player, but he never has gotten the chance. It's also about time they make Burke an everyday player, as well. I think if they stick with an OF of Lane, Berkman, and Taveras, and play Burke and Ensberg everyday, they will still have a really good lineup. Granted, Ausmus is the worst player in the league, and Bagwell is cooked, Everett doesn't belong in the lead-off spot, etc., but they are still a decent team with a really nice rotation.

Wow, the silence here is deafening. I have to get up for work at 3:30, so I hope they can at least score a run for me before I go to sleep.

Wow, the bandwagon is emptying in a hurry. It's too bad, because I think they'll be okay this year, they're just off to a bad start. From a fan interest standpoint, a start like this really hurts.

This is probably stating the obvious, but it looks like a low scoring game today. Davis is cruising, and Pettite got out of his only jam.

I wouldn't say Davis struggled. Spivey had an error and then he gave up an infield hit. Then he pitched out of it. Looks like another pitchers duel.

This being a pitchers duel, I bet Doug Davis is wishing he could put Branyan back in there, knowing Branyan won't rake as well as Helms but at least the muscled mass (and I don't mean the deflated Helms-monster) plays solid defense.

I can't help but NOT be surprised, however. It IS Wes Helms. Seriously...when Bill and Daron are second-guessing you, there's a problem.

Can someone explain to me why Helms didn't go home with that ball. I mean he had all his fat moving towards home plate, and the guy breaking from third would have been out by 2 miles. That is little league stuff man. Why is this guy on a MLB roster?

No, I don't even think they would have had the double play from 2nd to first. Helms' momentum was going forward, and it was a soft grounder. That's exactly the situation where you throw home. Maybe they even turn the home to first double play.
