4/20/05 - Brewers (TBA) @ Astros (Oswalt) 7:05CT

From rotoworld...

Manager Ned Yost said Ben Sheets is ''50-50'' to make his start Wednesday due to flu-like symptoms.

If Sheets can't go, Wes Obermueller would fill in for him and the Brewers would most likely lose to the Astros.

teams can be dangerous when everyone expects them to lose. If Obermueller starts and the Crew wins, that could be a great momentum starter

Well, the probability that the Brewers score more than one run in an Obermueller start increases exponentially vs. a Sheets start.

The Brewers have scored in 5 of the last 45 innings of play (5 games). Pretty sure they'll have to score in more than 1 inning in today's game to win, especially is Sheets doesn't start.

One guy to look for in this series is Jason Lane who is finally playing up to the hype. He has been playing very well so far. Some stats so far this year:

Hr 4 Avg. .352 RBI. 11 SB 4 Note however, no hits in 13 at bats against lefties.

Not bad for a guy that, aside from Berkman's injury, might not even be an everyday player.

Obermueller tossed a complete game shutout of the Astros late last year when they had Berkman and Beltran in the lineup. He also knocked them out of the 03 race on the next to last day of that season.

I don't think his starting is the slam dunk Astros win that Rotoworld thinks it is.

I'll do my best, after all, squarepusher is the person I admire and respect most in the world. He should be showered with praise. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

A few hours in the sensory depravation tank has finally relieved the anxiety caused by yesterday's loss.

We've had better teams go on longer losing streaks. If I remember right, the 87 team blew about 14 straight shortly after the Easter Sunday Miracle and Juan Nieves' no-hitter.

A road trip might just be what the team needs. At least It seemed to work out pretty good in "Animal House". A guy can learn several life lessons by watching that movie over and over.

It's a classic match-up of the Number 1 and #2 starters on the 2000 Olmpic team facing each other tonight. Ben ain't going to miss this. No flu will keep this guy down. He's tough as nails. I say Sheeter only adds to his growing legend by tossing a 2 hit shutout tonight.

Sidenote: With everyone changing their name, I think my handle SlideBernieSlide might actually be one of the oldest handles here now. My bio says "Proud member since October 31, 2001". In fact, I'm typing this while wearing my Brewerfan.com T-shirt Est 2001. Oh yeah!

I can't say that I have ever been a "proud" member of this community...I usally try to keep it on the D/L so people don't pass judgment on me.

Sheets is gonna start tonight, and in between striking out Bagwell and Ensberg he'll blow some chunks on the mound and not even care.

GetPaddled...you might be making a mistake. I learned long ago that when placing a recreational-for-entertainment-purposes-only wager to never, ever place them on or against the Brewers. Unless you are betting the Under (or over) on this game I can't imagine putting money ON the Brewers, and betting against them, while smart, means you have to root against them.

I'll be rooting against the Crew today

Have we ever scored any runs against Oswalt? I hope I'm wrong, but it sure seems that he has owned us.

the past few years I have helped the betters beat the books really bad. One game I cant remember but the books had I think Kinny starting, but when I checked here it said Sheets was starting. The line was something like +180 for the brewers moneyline. The public was agianst the brewers around 85%. I let the people I bet with know about this. A few guys including myself Loaded up on that game. Since I was a noob over at this place there was only like 7-8 guys on this game. Sure enough the books were wrong which never happens and I made this one guy 5,000 or something after the crew won that game. So knowing who starts tonight is more for my buddies then for me. Tho I will put money on ROY over OBIE, becuase the books have Sheets starting. (and the price is right)

No I never bet agianst the crew, maybe happend twice in 2 years. I do bet overs and unders and am around 55% correct right now. Which is enough to make me a few bones.

Oswalts numbers against us weren't as dominating as I thought they would be, though last year he seemed to own us.

The Brewers will win tonight because I'm going to get some Miller High Life and will them to victory. Okay, so it didn't work last weekend, but tonight is different.
