Santos is a kick ass pitcher. Stone is usually very fair and impartial, I must admit. He is a very knowledgable announcer but if he thinks Santos isnt that good, he hasnt been watching. He can touch 93 with a tailing fastball, throws a good hook and can make guys look foolish with a splitter. All with good control. Bite me Stone.

bottom 3: The Brewers ran 5 consecutive counts full and walked 3 times wasting prior who now won't see the sixth.

Top 4: Then Santos works out of the jam to exasterbate the cubs problem with runners in scoring position. 0 runs but those 1/2 innings might be the turning point.

Yeah, I agree, he is normally a very good announcer. I think he really wants to see the Cubs win tonight, and thus not lose the series. Maybe he's being a bit of a homer because of that.

Yes, Bennett must GO!

Its hard to fault Stone for thinking Vic isn't any good... did any of us think he was good before he entered the rotation? His career numbers are nothing to write home about, and watching him its hard not to think that he has poor control.

But we get to see him every 5 days, and we can appreciate how magnificent his stuff is. And how much better he's been about not walking people, despite still having some unexceptional control.

I don't like Stone's style at all, 'cause I don't think its the broadcaster's job to predict the future, but he's obviously a pretty smart dude. At least he makes reference to stats, observations, players' histories, and precedent when making his points... unlike a certain some one whose name sounds like Phil Imploder.

He was already at 93 pitches and they haven't allowed him to go past 100 yet. Given he was up, it was a pretty easy decision I'd guess.

Prior out!

That is so Dusty. There is no good reason to not have him pitch the 5th, especially with their pen. He is a good coach, but sometimes he likes to get noticied by doing something strange.

So Dusty?

Did I just miss about 50 pitches?

I'm sure this was the medical staff's call, and perhaps Rothschild or Prior himself, but definitely not Baker.

Help me out - was the counsell play really an error?

Uecker thought that it should have been an infield hit and a error advancing Pods home. I would like to see those runs earned for Prior.

Man, the Cubs are getting to Santos. He better come out soon http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Chris Coste would hit better than Gary Bennett, there's almost no doubt. Probably Mark Johnson, too.

Its hard to get rid of a catcher when your pitching staff is so solid, but his two guys are Obie (bad) and Santos (I doubt Bennett is really responsible for his turnaround, as Vic has credited Mike Maddux for teaching him how to pitch and Yost for having confidence in him). So really, what does Bennett do well? He's not particularly good defensively, and he hits worse than most of our pitchers.

It was a bad move to sign him by the Nugget Miner, no question.

Well at least Ned didn't have to decide whether or not to pinch hit for Vic. No doubt this is it for him now...
