When I turn on my tv the last thing I expected to see was that. Defiantly a sad sad day for his family, friends, teammates, fans, etc.

Just makes you wonder if his past was an influence in this situation or not. I know he had brandished a gun or something along those lines. On top of that from what I've been reading and hearing is that this was more then likely planned. Whoever broke in last time had left a knife on his bed and took absolutely nothing. I don't know how true this is but over on the espn board they're saying his phone lines had been cut during the incident to.

Something seems fishy about this - but clearly whomever shot him did not want to kill him. If it were a robbery, what was taken from the home? I have yet to hear. This seems personal and likely was something other than a botched robbery.

The whole thing is just very bizarre. Apparently last week someone broke into his house, went through a bunch of drawers (though apparently didn't steal anything) and left a knife on Taylor's bed.

A week later, they break in, shoot him in the leg (I agree that they probably didn't want to kill him) and may or may not have stolen anything. We'll see if they did indeed take stuff...if not, this just seems personal. Given Taylor's past, it's not that hard to fathom I guess, but still very sad.

Also...did anyone else read that he keeps a machette in his bedroom for protection??!?! If someone breaks in with a gun (which they did), and you have a machette...you're going to lose most of the time....

The knife thing stood out to me. That's some scary stuff.

Ugh. Age 24 with so many opportunities. . .and to be gunned down in your own home. . .

How sad for so many people.

i think its too early to make assumptions on what happened. I will say its safe to say that living in Miami may not of been the best idea. Since he was turning his life around and by all accounts maturing since entering the league, possibly moving his family to DC or Tampa or something and away from his "boys" might of prevented this. It will all come out later, so now the best thing to do is to pray for the family.

Wow, I am shocked that he wouldn't have a high-end alarm system or something. This sounds like something where timing could have saved him.

Miami sounds like a terrible place to live. My experienced driving through do not point to the contrary.

Remember, there has been a series of home invasion robberies involving star sports athletes. Had the previous week's incident not happened, that is what I would be leaning towards.

I'm not so sure about that, I mean the shooter could've just as easily had bad aim. Two shots were fired and only one hit him. It definitely seems fishy though, aside from the previous break in, the fact that the person goes straight for Taylor's bedroom and doesn't take anything or go for his wife or kid.

The report I heard was that the guy opened the door and started shooting. I think he was definitely trying to kill him.

Why a Millionaire feels the need to sleep with a Machette is probably the key here in this whole drama.

If I'm not mistaken, Taylor was on probation for an earlier incident so it would be illegal for him to be in possession of a gun. Therefore he kept the machette as protection.

It is very sad that he was killed but what bothers me is the outpoor of support simply because he was good at sports. Seems to me a few people in DC have died without any concern or care. Support him by concentrating on everyone not just him.
