Jenkins?

Posted
So far, we've struck out in finding an upgrade at 3B or LF. I just saw that Jenkins may be forced to take $5M from Philly or SD for a 1-year deal. Any takers on brining him back at that price??

As others have said, the difference between Jenkins at $5M and Gross at $500K is minimal.

I can't believe Geoff would consider playing in PHIL for the same money...they booed Rolen and Santa. I'd cross them off my list before I started.

That Santa in Philly was booed for being drunk. Sure, the fans there are tough, but that one has just simply been run with to an incredible extreme -- it's fun to say.

This talks about the Santa booing incident, but the author quoted in the article doesn't mention Santa being drunk. The guy they interview wrote a book on Philly fan culture. Of course I didn't actually read the book, but here an except from the article that talks about the incident:

USA TODAY article

"At halftime, there was supposed to be a Christmas pageant. Then there was too much snow and muck for a float to parade around the field. Instead, according to the book, a 19-year-old fan wearing a Santa suit and fake beard in the stands was recruited to jog onto the field between two columns of cheerleaders.

The authors don't deny boos were heard and that snowballs were tossed. Are they saying Santa had it coming?

"Santa had it coming for a different reason actually," says Macnow. "Santa was a surrogate that day for Joe Kuharich and Jerry Wolman and Norm Snead. The poor kid just happened to be representing the frustrations.""

Santa being booed is overblown...

But Philly is still a horrible town to play sports in...

Ask Iverson.

Ask McNabb.

Ask Barkley.

Those are just the most recent/prominent cases. Philadelphia eats their own children.

Well if Jenkins wants another contract he'd sign with Phi since he would be borderline useless in Petco. If he wants to be happy for this contract he'll sign close to home.

Would that mean ARI then?

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
