Corbin Burnes Asked Matt Arnold If He's Going to Be Traded - "He's not trading me", Reports Burnes

I think closing the door on a Burnes trade is stupid. No we shouldn't just give him away but if the Dodgers or any other team makes a great offer for a pitcher that is 100% gone after the 24 season we should accept the offer and help set this franchise up for the future. This team should never let a great player walk for just the draft pick compensation alone so trading Burnes at this deadline should be very much a real consideration as his value drops the closer he is to free agency.

Maybe if last year didn't happen. 

I'd trade Corbin if he's part of a package to acquire Ohtani ☺️

Trading Hader wasn't the problem the issue was with what we got back and luckily Arnold cleaned up Stearns mess by turning Ruiz into Contreras. We definitely shouldn't sell Burnes for a discount but we should be willing to listen and see if any team blows us away with a great package for a guy that is gone for sure after next season.

Trading a one inning reliever is also very different from trading your ace pitcher. 

I just don't see it happening at this point.

Quick reality check... this isn't "MLB:  The Show"  Nobody is going to offer more than 2 tier 1 players for him.

This board, among others, have been clamoring for the "Cy Young" Burnes.  Well, he has been pitching like that during his last handful of starts.  So, let's trade him while he's hot?  I'm excited about the season again -- especially with Yelich being all-star worthy.

Build the foundation of solid starting pitching.  Burnes is the cornerstone.  Let's get another solid bat and another bullpen arm.  Get into the playoffs and do some damage.

Considering the sellers market and what the guardians for civale, I wonder what Burnes would get.

I’m not convinced the Brewers won’t simply run it back next year with Woodruff, Burnes and Peralta, make them QOs and take the pick. Sell more tickets that way.

The Brewers control Peralta through 2026 with the team friendly extension he signed in 2020

I think its entirely possible and it scares the crap out of me. The Brewers made that mistake with Prince Fielder and IMHO it might have set the franchise back 2-3 years.
