  1. It's really sad that the expectation in Milwaukee is the moment a guy exceeds his arbitration years, he's gone. It's so sad. Apparently, Lucroy proposed a long-term deal to the club in the off-season, a deal he said that would of made him a career Brewer, and they told him "No, thanks. Not at this time." You're sad about that? As much as I like Luc the player (and seemingly the person), that would be a bad move for the Brewers to make.
  2. Some team that is actually playing to get to the World Series will pick him up and play him in CF in a pivotal game.
  3. Agreed, there are plenty of past-their-prime SS's who would fit the bill nicely.
  4. Would be hilarious if they go get CarGo, give up more, and then CarGo goes on the DL within the first two weeks.
  5. Did Gomez recently have major surgery on his hip and I'm just not remembering it? That sounds like some nonsense by the Mets camp in order to save their best trade piece.
  6. A deal with the Mets won't happen now. Sandy made that quite clear. Wheeler was the only guy of value they could really part with. Part of the disappointment in his face might be knowing his best trade chip going forward is now tainted by a bad medical report. Sure he has arms galore to trade, but Wheeler was the guy he was dangling to other clubs. At least this trade deadline is interesting.
  7. Homer - that is awesome. Hilarious. I've got to think it's a medical issue. I really don't think the deal would fall apart just because it was leaked early - that's just silly.
  8. Wilmer Flores should not be playing SS. No one thinks he can play there...Mets did it out of complete need. He really needs to be at 3B or possibly 2B. Clancy doesn't value defense. At all.
  9. I wouldn't think so, unless it's just to unload Lohse (can't see it happening) or Garza (pretty please?) since Wheeler is not going to be ready for almost a year.
  10. Not to mention that if he performs up to where he was before he got injured, or even better, the Brewers can flip him before 2019 and get a few more pieces. Is he going to be ready to go in 2016? I like getting Wheeler back. I'm so-so on Flores, only because we already have a glut of infielders. But you take the best players you can get.
  11. I hope not. I think he needs as many at-bats the rest of the year as possible to find out what we have with this kid. Also, I'm glad it's not a handful of AAAA players.
  12. I'd better grab a beer and hold on.
  13. Non contenders have had interest in Gomez because of the extra year. Not in the race this year. Understood.
  14. I have to admit, the Indians wanting in on Gomez is a bit surprising to me. I say that and completely accept that I don't know their team very well or their minor leagues. Are they in the race this year? I thought they were out of the race.
  15. It took a perfect throw to get Luc, and of course that throw was perfect.
  16. It's not greedy, it's just economics - particularly those in professional sports. It's why teams like the Brewers have to get what they can for players at their peak, and then also trade high or before the player prices himself out of town (nothing new here). I've never really believed in the hometown discount. Had Prince Fielder given the Brewers a hometown discount, he would have given up what, $114 Million? That's just terrible business on his part.
  17. The changeup is only effective when the fastball is mixed in. The problem is that K-Rod leaves the fastball in very hittable spots so it gets hit.
  18. I'm not sure why any pitcher throws Segura anything but the following: breaking balls and a lot of them, fastballs that are too far off the outside corner to drive to RF.
