  1. Jeren Kendall as the 1st overall pick? That might be a bit generous, and I like the kid and think he's a player.
  2. I'll take a passionate guy who cares even if he erupts on occasion over a guy who accepts losing and not performing. He's a modern day Jimmy Piersall. The game could use guys like that. He's not a bad dude, just wired tighter than most guys. Suggest some of you guys read up on Milwaukee icon Johnny Logan or even Eddie Mathews. Johnson is in that same image. Logan was hated by opposing teams and Mathews instigated a few epic brawls in his day also. He is an instigator, but he's also a not very tough. In both of those instances (Fernandez and Gomez scuffles), Johnson ran right behind an umpire and then talked smack to the other team. He's just a phony tough guy with an attitude. Pass.
  3. Yeah, they tend not to be subjective. Funny how they can elicit some strong emotion from some fans; heck, I know that I used to be one of them until I just gave in. Of course, this was several years ago.
  4. Braun is NOT a liability in the OF. he can play LF or RF (he's better in LF clearly). i don't care what nerdy analytics you can dig up to support what you're saying - use your eyes as well (my eyes are what tells me Davis has the worst corner OF arm i'll ever see in my life). and Khris Davis is NOT a legit bat. he has legit power and literally nothing else. while his BB rate rose this past season in fewer ABs his K rate rose. he's proved at this level not to be a high OBP guy, not to have an understanding of the strike zone, not to hit line to line, not to hit for a solid avg, not a contact hitter and has not showed any consistency whatsoever. he's had 3 months over the past 2 seasons that have resulted in the majority of his power numbers (best tool). and that doesn't even include his avg at best defense with brutal arm. yes, you're correct that now is the time to move him especially after his final 2 months last year. but not because it's when you can maximize the return rather he's the opposite of what this team is becoming and because room needs to be made for Santana in RF. Please, I beg people, stop relying on wOBA, WAR, etc. That's part of the evaluation process but too many people use it as the final say. There isn't 1 GM that would take Khris Davis over Alex Gordon. Davis also had a higher wOBA than Heyward too lol Please, enlighten us on your scouting ability while watching FSWI. Edit - everyone knows Khris Davis has a shoulder problem and can't throw. You are just becoming a broken record with your scorn for anyone using advance metrics. We all watch the Brewers, we see the same things you do, when evaluating trade pieces/proposals it doesn't hurt to use advance statistics. The fact that you point out your disdain for them in every.single.post. is tiresome. We get it.

  6. Dave Stewart isn't running the Dodgers. No team coughs up two of the top five prospects in baseball (plus other stuff) for Braun and Luc. The bold comment did not go unnoticed. Well done.
  7. Sounds like Jean Segura, but with Segura's decent portions of seasons (combined with his defense) making him more valuable overtime with respect to WAR.
  8. It's going to be an even-year-season; Giants just doin' their thing.
  9. Segura? Hitters count? He swings at the first pitch non stop. Not possible. http://www.bleachernation.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/jim-mora-playoffs.jpg
  10. I took this picture mainly to show how bad of a hitter Segura is but it also shows how bad of a catcher Schwarber is. http://i.imgur.com/Aagh1Zw.jpg Classic Segura. Probably had a hitter's count, too.
  11. The only positives I could spin from Alvarez are that I don't care if the Brewers lose every single game, so his defense is a non-issue to me (aside from it hurting out young pitchers - so I suppose that could negate the rest of any point I'm attempting to make). If (really big IF) he can have a really big first half, the Brewers might be able to flip him to a contender and get a few pieces back. I don't know the details of what it would take to get him, but if it's cheap enough I'd be OK with it.
  12. Amazing thing to read given where things stood just a short year ago. Shorter than that really. And we haven't even added Lucroy's mega haul or our Top 5 pick from next June. A lot to be looking forward to. I was talking to a good friend of mine who follows the Brewers as close as I do, and we both agreed that we were finally excited about the Brewers after being pretty 'meh' the last few years. Losing a bunch of games won't bother me in the slightest if I know there is light at the end of the tunnel.
  13. How would you suggest the Brewers 'bite the bullet' with Garza? They're still on the hook for a lot of money owed to him, so I'm assuming the Brewers are intending to have Garza make 30+ starts, assuming he is healthy and see if he can even have a marginally better season (just using your word marginal here). Paying Garza but not getting ANYTHING for what they're paying for would be a disaster for the Brewers, for what they're trying to do right now. Adding another 12.5 million on top of that doesn't make good sense for a team that is rebuilding. Maybe Lee could be in demand in July, but so could Garza with a decent first half rebound. I don't know, I just don't see the Brewers going out of their way to pay a lot of money for another question mark after already paying a lot of money for one question mark in Garza.
  14. To me, it would be the opposite. A team with a very high payroll knows they can get a player who they're actually getting good value for and costs peanuts compared to the other players they've signed who are no longer producing commensurate with their salary. Lucroy is the yin to their yang, so-to-speak. If Luc were a FA now, then I'd agree with you that a team with an already ridiculous payroll might be looked to go the cheaper route on a catcher. That being said, any team can afford his salary so he should be looked at a bargain across the league.
  15. No one is talking about trading Arcia. He's not going to be traded.
  16. True, Arcia is untouchable, but I would put a few more names from AA and below as guys the Brewers are likely to not trade, either. Don't know that they're untouchable but doubt they're 'on the table', either.
  17. 1. Agree, to an extent. 2. Disagree. If we're in full rebuild now, then Lucroy is our best trade chip who will be too expensive/not as effective by the time the Brewers are ready to compete again. I can't see a scenario where the Brewers would be serious about rebuilding but hang on to Lucroy; I think the writing has been on the wall here for a while with Lucroy in Milwaukee. 3. This is the first I've ever heard of Scooter having an extremely high ceiling. Scooter seems like 'just a guy' to me, and his greatest attribute (right now) is his left-handed bat and the fact he's still cheap and can hit right handed pitching.
  18. If you're going to make superlative statements like this, they should at least come somewhat close to being true. And if you did some research you'd know that Redmond perpetually pulled Fernandez early in 2013 until the training wheels came off and they started letting him run 100 pitches...then it was 7IP nearly every start. If you'd like to go further he was going 7 to 8 innings in 2014 until his elbow blew up in May. The point is, no pitcher throws 7+ innings of shutdown baseball every time they hit the mound, regardless of how their manager treated them.
  19. If he were having control issues at AAA then you might consider a bullpen role. He's still plenty young where he can develop his control as he moves up the Minor League ranks. Ponce won't be an ace? That's a certain possibility, but if he's a quality 2 or 3 that's something the Brewers will definitely take as a starting pitcher, and that warrants the usual 'wait and see' approach you have to take with minor leaguers as they develop. You're correct, people are wrong on "projections" - you don't know how a player will develop as they mature mentally and physically, but you don't take a kid who has Ponce's ability (at this stage of his development) and put him in a role usually reserved for guys who have proven they are not starting pitchers.
  20. That is so incredibly wrong I don't even know how to respond. Chris Sale is only worth one prospect that projects to MAYBE have ace potential? No that is incredibly stupid. So why would Khris Davis be worth a B-prospect because that is what he ended up being in the MLB? Good question, I know. Relax.
  21. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the transaction emoticon and saw Arcia's name next to it.
  22. No kidding. Before the series started I was rooting for the Mets (David Wright is an easy guy to root for) and I'm sticking with it. I'm hoping this series goes 7 games, too.
  23. Very good points. To tack on. While you can make a greater impact on a team like Boston (Theo) and have that legacy. You can also have a huge impact on a team like the Brewers and become a higher being type person. Whoever the GM happens to be when the Brewers do win a world series, they will be seen as a god around Milwaukee for their remainder of time on this earth and beyond. Far out, man.
  24. AJ Hinch with the curious move of bringing in his best starting pitcher against the Royals, who promptly gives up three runs. Keuchel hadn't come out of the pen in two years and was coming off two days rest. I get it to an extent, you want your best to pitch if you're going to go down - but wow, that's a curious move. I thought this when he started pitching, obviously it looks way worse after the fact.
  25. What do you mean? Being a fan favorite doesn't stop one of your best trade chips from being moved when you're staring at a rebuild.
