  1. I'm sure it would take multiple young prospects, something the Brewers have but are (hopefully at this stage of the rebuild) unwilling to part with, especially for a pitcher with the warts you mentioned. No thanks.
  2. I tend to think actual humor is funny, not opposing viewpoints. I don't get that message board tactic.
  3. Do you have links? I wouldn't mind reading the article(s). It wouldn't surprise me if the Brewers were open to trading Braun if there were mutual interest, but to say the Brewers would "love" to trade him seems like another stretch. BUT, I'll believe it when I read it in the articles.
  4. No thanks to Baez, unless other pieces are added.
  5. I am much more excited for this season than i was last season. There are no expectations, many new faces, and a much brighter future. I agree with both you. I love the start of spring training, not only is baseball starting again (my favorite sport) but warmer weather is on the horizon.

  7. Whether or not he's an upgrade now is irrelevant. Santana needs to see 500 at-bats so the Brewers can get a good feel on what they have with him, so he's either in the future plans or he'll be cast away; OR, he could be traded for more assets. I think a few posters are stuck on "Santana won't replace Davis' production" when I'm not really sure that's the goal right now. Besides, Santana has nothing left to prove at AAA. He needs every day at-bats and now he can get those in a corner spot in MKE.
  8. Isn't he from the Bay Area, too? Has to be kind of nice for him to be able to play closer to home for half the season.
  9. I heard today the Yankees and at least the Rays, D'Backs, and Reds were teams that couldn't bid on him because they overspent on international players last year, or the year before. Sorry, going for memory, but I know for a fact the Rays were one of the teams along with the D'Backs and Reds that aren't able to offer a deal.
  10. Stearns has already said that Garza is going to be in the rotation.
  11. Me neither, but it's the "hot topic" for uncreative sportswriters. Particularly those writing for ESPN.
  12. Please tell me you don't apply this to anything other than sports.
  13. Not to mention, I don't feel like Braun is in any sort of position to lecture someone on how to conduct themselves to the media. Last time I checked, Lucroy wasn't forced to sign the deal he did. And Braun has every right as a veteran in that locker room, and the best player on that team, to tell Lucroy to knock it off and play ball. Attitude is everything in baseball. Maybe the reason why Lucroy struggled so much is that he has a bad attitude. Either way, he needs to fall in line and play baseball to his ability and let the record fall where it will. I never said anything about Lucroy's deal so I'm not sure why you're quoting me but talking about how Ryan called his own press conference, bashed the media, bashed other people, etc -- when he knew he was in the wrong. In order to not get off topic - and really, I don't care about that anymore with Braun - but being a leader (as I agree it's Braun) doesn't mean you get special privileges. Braun spoke his mind before and looked really stupid doing it, but now he's complaining because Lucroy answered a question truthfully? I don't know, I know I'm one of the few but Luc's comments didn't bother me at all, so probably why I'm not quick to defend Braun on his "media credentials".

  15. Not really, at least not when those 'true fans' are going to continue their fandom through a rebuild process where the losses will pile up. I don't think you quite understood the gist of the thread you referenced in one of your posts in this thread.
  16. That SS sounds intriguing. Aaron Hill becomes super utility guy on infield -- on an infield that seems to already have a few of those that are cheap? I dunno. I like the wheeling and dealing. Good luck to Segura and Wagner.
  17. Not to mention, were those 109 ABs consecutive, meaning he played almost every day, or were those ABs broken up over time? If it's the latter, that's really hard on a young player trying to get some consistency.
  18. Those names don't ring a bell.
  19. I remember that signing. He was supposed to be the future SS but I can't even come close on a name.
  20. Geez, dude. They asked him a question and he answered it honestly. What do you want/expect him to say? The fact that he had a bad year last year doesn't negate the fact that his opinion carries weight on/with the Brewers. He doesn't have to answer every single question and saying your team won't compete in the upcoming season?...That takes one special person. All Lucroy is doing is hurting the Brewers with his comments. These kinds of comments hurt trade value and it makes fans not happy with the team etc. How many other Brewers have said the team is going to suck this year and stated how much the team should just trade him? Any? So you're upset he's saying what everyone knows is the truth? I just want to make sure I got that right. If he says "We expect to win this year" and the Brewers lose 95 games then fans are screaming at Stearns and Counsell for underachieving. As it stands, the majority of 'informed' fans, not just people who are diehards and post multiple times a day on Brewerfan, understand that it's going to be a down year and we're in the midst of a rebuild. Lucroy saying what everyone already knows isn't some indictment into his character. I'd rather him just tell the truth.

  22. I agree with this. Individual performances and looking to get full seasons out of our younger starters and see some improvement and/or consistency so we know what we have going forward. Following the minor leagues will be fun, as it as this year once the MLB decided not to show up in April.
  23. It blows your mind?!? Can you please elaborate?
