  1. Great. Marcum definitely has something wrong with his plant leg right now.
  2. WOW. Added insult to the injury of Weeks getting gifted a 'safe' call right before. What a blast.
  3. Welp, now Marcum's command is looking terrible. So glad I defended him in the 1st.
  4. I hope so too, TacoPete. Offense shouldn't be a problem for the Brewers today with the wind & facing a LHP with a ERA closer to 7 than 6.
  5. Oh come on. That ball by Rizzo wasn't 'smashed off the CF wall' or however BA said it. That was an easy flyout without the wind blowing out. And like trwi7 said, the RBI on Castro's triple was largely due to Braun not going all-out after the ball in the gap. If he'd shown more hustle there, that's a 2B with the lead runner stopping at third. Marcum's actually not looking bad in terms of his stuff or command to this point. If this is a non-wind-blowing-out game, we're talking 1 run & Marcum out of the inning.
  6. I already call him Eddie "The Windmill" in my head when watching games. He certainly does seem to like to send guys imo.
  7. Weeks's Z-Contact% is a little below league-avg. on his career (roughly 3% below lg-avg.). Link. So JB's general statement is false. However, specific to this discussion, Lucroy's Z-Contact% on his career is appx. 8 percentage points higher than Weeks's. I'm actually pretty convinced that Lucroy has blossomed into a hitter that you can pencil in for about a .280 AVG/.350 OBP going forward (with a higher ceiling than just that), but there's just nothing worth complaining about, at this point in 2012, in terms of Weeks & Luc in the batting order as long as they're not out of the top 6 spots.
  8. This is a critical start for the Brewers wrt Marcum, and how he's able to perform the rest of the way is quite possibly the most important stretch of Marcum's individual career. No pressure. Naturally, the wind is blowing straight out to CF pretty strongly.
  9. Thanks guys, that's how I was leaning as well, just wasn't sure
  10. The job posting said I'm required to submit salary expectations at the time of applying. I think this requirement might be the employer's way of finding out if you have a knowledge of the field as it currently operates, or at the very least that you were willing to do research on it. I hope you're able to do a little digging and find what seems like a reasonable salary for yourself (if you haven't already). To your "how does one include this information in the package?" question, I think you could work it in nicely with a paragraph that would talk about how you researched the field and found that a normal starting salary is [X]. I would place this paragraph towards the end of the cover letter I'm assuming you also need to submit, and bring in the positives about you as a candidate that you've already described. If the posting doesn't call for a cover letter, you might be able to make yourself stand out with a concisely written one. It would probably be best to keep it as brief as possible, since 1) they didn't ask for it, and 2) you don't want to go on at length if you don't have a large knowledge base of the field in which you're applying -- my apologies if #2 isn't the case. In lieu of a cover letter, perhaps typing out a paragraph describing your salary expectation and why you feel it is accurate (outlining your skills, training, etc.) in the email you submit with your resume would suffice... kind of a mini-cover letter. Just my thoughts, I'm by no means an expert.
  11. Are the Brewers on the hook for Wolf's $1.5M buyout in 2013? Or have the O's assumed that responsibility?
  12. "Must be a Corey Hart fan there" -- Brian Anderson, coming back from commercial to start the top of the 7th, with a Brewers fan wearing sunglasses at night shown on screen BA didn't overexplain the joke, so I will. Thought it was nicely done.
  13. Milwaukee is the smallest market in MLB iirc. TV revenues are going waaaaay up for basically every team, and the Brewers' $10M bump or whatever it is doesn't even come close to keeping pace.
  14. Note that zzzman isn't talking about tanking, just that player development & evaluation are the top priorities.
  15. Just because the Brewers might not be planning to make Marcum a qualifying offer doesn't mean they can't use their ability to do so as leverage in trade negotiations.
  16. That was so cool, thanks for sharing that, Southern Leaguer. I guess you could say... (•_•). ( •_•)>⌐□-□. (⌐□_□) he was throwing cheese.
  17. Of course, how silly of us. No kidding. My first thought was also the Cards.
  18. Last month, Briggs was telling us the true ace was Fiers. I wonder who it'll be at the end of the season!
  19. @Huntsville 4, Birmingham 0 Huntsville Box "Downhill Thunder" rolled back into Huntsville in a very big way tonight. Jimmy Nelson tossed 7 IP of one-hit, shutout baseball. He walked two and hit one batter, and the lone hit he surrendered was a single in the 1st. 16 of the 24 batters Nelson faced were retired via strikeout, groundout, or popout. The Barons' only baserunners through the 7th came on the HBP and 2 BBs. Congratulations on this one, Jimmy. Barring Nelson telling his coaching staff he wanted to get shut down, why a guy with this kind of outing is pulled after only 82 pitches... is beyond what I can put into words without violating forum rules. Kyle Heckathorn came on in relief and wriggled off the hook in his first inning of work, getting an inning-ending double play after he'd issued back-to-back one-out BBs. He then breezed through the 9th on just eight pitches to wrap this one up. Huntsville scored 4 R on just 4 H thanks to 9 BB and some big hits from Kentrail Davis (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI) and Hunter Morris (1-4, HR, RBI, BB). Scooter Gennett (1-3, 2B, BB) was the only other Star with a hit. Hainley Statia, Josh Prince, and T.J. Mittelstaedt each walked twice. Brock Kjeldgaard walked once. Huntsville PbP The Stars broke into the run column in the 2nd, with aggressive baserunning being both friend and foe. To clarify the scoring play, it looks like the throw came in from CF to 2B/cutoff-man to the plate, where Mittelstaedt was safe... and Davis was nabbed trying to take third on the throw home: Huntsville Bottom of the 2nd -Brock Kjeldgaard walks. -Kentrail Davis doubles (21) on a line drive to center fielder Brandon Short. Brock Kjeldgaard scores. Kentrail Davis out at 3rd on the throw, center fielder Brandon Short to second baseman Erik Morrison to catcher Miguel Gonzalez to third baseman Jake Oester. -Josh Prince walks. -With T. J. Mittelstaedt batting, Josh Prince caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Miguel Gonzalez to shortstop Tyler Saladino. T. J. Mittelstaedt walks. -Adam Weisenburger grounds out, second baseman Erik Morrison to first baseman Andy Wilkins. Leading off the home half of the 4th, Morris got a 2-1 pitch practically on a tee and knocked it out to right: Huntsville Bottom of the 4th -Hunter Morris homers (25) on a fly ball to right field. -Brock Kjeldgaard pops out to second baseman Erik Morrison. -Kentrail Davis strikes out swinging. -Josh Prince grounds out softly, pitcher Nick McCully to first baseman Andy Wilkins. Given the dominance of Nelson and Heckathorn, two would've been enough in this one. But it was good to see the Stars tack on more, and again being aggressive on the basepaths paid off: Huntsville Bottom of the 6th -Hainley Statia walks. -Scooter Gennett doubles (30) on a line drive to left fielder Brady Shoemaker. Hainley Statia to 3rd. -Hunter Morris pops out to third baseman Jake Oester. -Brock Kjeldgaard lines out softly to shortstop Tyler Saladino. -Kentrail Davis singles on a ground ball to right fielder Trayce Thompson. Hainley Statia scores. Scooter Gennett scores. Kentrail Davis advances to 2nd, on a missed catch error by catcher Miguel Gonzalez. -Pitching Change: Ryan Buch replaces Nick McCully. -Josh Prince grounds out, second baseman Erik Morrison to first baseman Andy Wilkins. Huntsville Gameday
  20. I like Chinooks better. It makes more sense, regionally, too. But I shall arbitrarily declare your idea dumb, because it isn't my idea.
  21. I don't believe there's any way Maldy beats that out. He hit that ball as hard as you can on the ground, and he's easily the slowest player on the roster. Just because he wasn't running all out at the end of the play doesn't mean he had a chance. He wasn't running at 100% effort because he had no shot to be safe.
  22. Wow. This was the kind of performance we've been waiting to see from Jimmy Nelson. However, he was pulled after just 82 pitches. This has become a problem imo at Huntsville.
  23. I actually tuned in during the 8th, so I basically only caught the amazing part of the game. And yeah, that 9th inning just felt so good. I didn't care if the game was meaningless, I just wanted to keep seeing them tack on more runs... and they did! The Braun HR alone was worth the price of admission. That shot, into the wind?! Hart's was a mammoth blast as well, considering the wind. Without wind, he might've hit that out of the stadium, and to a pretty deep part of it no less.
  24. Seattle Stags actually has a nice ring to it.
