  1. Whoops, sorry Jim. Since Young Geezy hasn't been in contact, I will treat each day's DSL game as my responsibility.
  2. It may be critical, but I think it's a pretty accurate assessment. Melvin & Attanasio have been building for this season & maybe the next one for long enough now that the crap is about to hit the fan after 2012.
  3. Unlike the iron-clad Braun, of course. There are a few players I'd deal Braun straight-up for, but not many. Someone like Kershaw or Tulo would be hard to say 'no' to on Braun.
  4. No offense TLB, but I've never understood how people can claim they didn't take BPA since A-We won't know for 4-5 years who that is, and B-We have no idea who the BREWERS believe those players to be. So I don't understand the shot at Sied and company whatsoever. Especially since you WERE clamoring for Bats early in this draft. Watch video of Taylor's swing, & then tell me you have no doubts he was BPA. Iirc there's a link of his swing in the cage in this thread. And yes, I did want to see early picks spent on bats... which the org. did. This pick in particular is one I'm skeptical of since imo the bat here doesn't look very intriguing. EDIT: Maybe it was in the signing thread (link). The swing just looks like he really leaves his lower half out of it. ... EDIT2: Here is the post that linked to the video I was remembering. Anyway, I'm just not thrilled with this pick in round 2. Looks like a guy who will have to have his swing broken down & reconstructed if he wants to be anything more than a slappy or gap hitter. I realize he's young & there's definitely time for said overhaul, but the first comp. I think of when I watch him swing is a RH Nyjer Morgan.
  5. I hope so, but especially with this last pick I have questions.
  6. I really dislike the 'hey, we drafted arms at the top of last year's draft, so it's bats this time!' approach. The Brewers need to take a page from the Packers' playbook & stop building their farm system based on need.
  7. Final: Bradenton 14, @Brevard County 7 Manatees thumped by Marauders, 14-7 Brevard gives up season-highs in both runs and hits By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees allowed season-highs in both runs and hits as they had their three-game winning streak snapped by the Bradenton Marauders, 14-7 on Monday night at Space Coast Stadium. Manatees starting pitcher Brandon Williamson (1-3, 6.35) struggled mightily as he allowed nine runs in just 1 1/3 innings of work. He gave up nine hits, while walking one and striking out one. Brevard County's (24-32) bullpen didn't fare much better as five pitchers combined to allow five runs in 7 2/3 innings. Eight of Bradenton's (25-32) 21 hits went for extra bases and their 3-4-5 hitters combined to go 12-for-17 with nine RBI. Offensively for the Manatees, Mike Walker and Scott Krieger had two hits each. Nick Shaw and Joey Paciorek each drove in two runs, while Shea Vucinich hit his third homer of the season. The loss prevented the 'Tees from their earned first four-game winning streak since April 7-11. Also with the defeat and coupled with Dunedin's victory over Charlotte on Monday night, Brevard County is now officially eliminated from the first half division title. Brevard will hit the road for a four-game set with the Jupiter Hammerheads (27-30) at Roger Dean Stadium beginning on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Southpaw Jed Bradley (4-4, 3.83) will get the start for the Manatees. The 2011 first round draft pick is looking for his first win since May 8 and is 1-1 with a 6.89 ERA in three road starts this season. Jupiter will counter with righty Robert Morey (2-0, 3.27). BC Box Williamson got rocked, and the first three RPs -- Eric Arnett, Philippe Valiquette, & Brian Garman -- pitched the Manatees into the 7th inning, but combined to allow the rest of Bradenton's runs. Greg Holle & Eric Marzec each tossed scoreless frames to close out the game for BC. BC PBP Optimistic version, only BC's two muti-run innings... 8. Final: New Orleans 10, @Nashville 6 Sounds Lose 10-6 Slugfest To Zephyrs Loss Is Nashville's Seventh In Last Eight Games Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds dropped a 10-6 slugfest to visiting New Orleans Zephyrs on Monday evening at Greer Stadium. The loss was the Sounds' seventh in the last eight games. Nashville (21-36) gave up a season-high four Zephyrs homers in the loss, including two from catcher Clint Sammons. New Orleans starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc (3-4) allowed two runs on six hits while fanning six in seven innings for the victory. The left-hander also doubled in and scored a run from the dish. Five Sounds had multiple-hit efforts on the evening and accounted for all of Nashville's 11 hits, led by a 3-for-4 performance by third baseman Andy Gonzalez. Shortstop Jeff Bianchi, right fielder Jordan Brown, first baseman Sean Halton, and catcher Jason Jaramillo each added two hits. The multi-hit game was Brown's fourth in a row. New Orleans took a 5-0 lead against starter Seth McClung in the second inning. With the bases juiced for the second consecutive inning, Gil Velazquez brought home the first two runs with a single to center field, which turned into a throwing error by Logan Schafer to score another run. Two pitches later, Scott Cousins tattooed his seventh homer of the season off the clubhouse in right center for a 5-0 advantage. The Zephyrs added another run in the third on a sacrifice fly from LeBlanc. After being held to one hit through the first three innings, the Sounds scored two runs to trim the lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth. After singles from Bianchi and Halton, Gonzalez lined an RBI single down the right field line. Outfielder Caleb Gindl followed with a sacrifice fly to deep center to score Halton. Johnnie Lowe's first pitch of the fifth inning was greeted by Sammons' first homer over the left field wall, extending the Z's lead to 7-2. Two innings later, Sammons homered off Lowe for the second time for 9-2 lead. Nashville cut the deficit to 9-6 with a four-run spot in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to back-to-back jacks from Halton and Gonzalez. Zephyrs reliever Beau Jones began the frame by walking Bianchi and allowing a single to Brown before Halton crushed a 3-0 fastball over the left field wall. Three pitches later, Gonzalez belted his third homer in his last four games. The back-to-back jacks by Halton and Gonzalez was the second occurrence by Nashville this season after Brooks Conrad and Brown went yard on May 26 vs. Round Rock. Montz added a ninth-inning solo homer to push the lead to 10-6, his 11th long ball of the season. McClung was touched for six runs (five earned) on a season-high nine hits and five walks in four innings of work for the loss. It was the seventh time in 11 starts that McClung has given up four or more runs. Lowe's three runs allowed both came on homers from Sammons. Amaury Rivas tossed two scoreless innings. Robert Wooten allowed one solo homer in his inning of work. Coming into the game leading the PCL in fielding percentage, Nashville committed two errors for the second consecutive contest. The Sounds and Zephyrs conclude their four-game series at 7L05 pm CT on Tuesday night at Greer Stadium. Right-hander Mark Rogers (1-3, 5.19) will toe the rubber in the finale against New Orleans righty Tom Koehler (6-4, 3.71). Nashville Box Nashville PBP
  9. I really think Roenicke is committed to Izturis. I'm worried it's going to be a straight platoon at SS when Cesar returns.
  10. Ah, gotcha. We'll get this covered tonight. And agreed, I hope YoungGeezy has just been busy & nothing serious has happened.
  11. Well, fwiw, the MLB.com top 100 ranking of draft prospects had him at #45 (Coulter #49, Roache #27). So it's not like he was some unknown commodity -- I'd never heard of him either, though
  12. Yeah, the top-10 comment was something some of the MLB Network guys were throwing around. Never makes you feel bad to hear, that's for sure.
  13. I hate to admit it, but I'm already on the Roache bandwagon. I have no rationale to supply as to why, beyond the power potential.
  14. How I feel when I make a prospect ranking list: http://anongallery.org/img/4/1/i-have-no-idea-what-im-doing-dog.jpg
  15. I can step up to take the DSL Cerveceritos on a regular or semi-regular basis. I'm also able to fill in here & there as needed on the L.R. in general. If you'd take them until if/when YG shows I'd greatly appreciate it then Nashville or one of my teams so Tedaldtada can slide to Helena? Yep, can do EDIT: whoops -- wait, so you mean you want me to take DSL & then one more? That's fine, I just want to have a clear understanding.
  16. Just like at the big-league (front office) level, the team really seems to be playing it safe here.
  17. Eflin goes to SDP at #33. I'll have to remember to check out how he does in their system.
  18. To assign letter grades to draft picks within minutes of them taking place seems... strange at best.
  19. This is my hope/guess, since I think Coulter is all but a lock... and I love Gallo's power potential.
  20. I didn't want Stroman, just started my post & then he was selected.
  21. So much for Stroman. Getting close to that #27 pick now!
  22. Have there been any big reaches and/or surprises so far? Aside from Appel, of course.
  23. I can step up to take the DSL Cerveceritos on a regular or semi-regular basis. I'm also able to fill in here & there as needed on the L.R. in general.
  24. Yeah, the Pirates have been building the proper way (imo) for a few seasons now. Basically since Huntington took the reins at GM.
