  1. Yeah, I was going to post about Maysonet so far Pete. He's looked obviously superior to Izturis. Maysonet should be the regular starter at this point; I really don't think he'd be as bad as everyone is assuming. His defense even looks like it might be better than Izturis's at this point.
  2. The annexation of Puerto Rico. I'd like to thank & credit you for being able to make me laugh about the contact play. Nicely done.
  3. It's really strange to me that, in general, the prevailing fan opinion is that hitters were the only ones who abused PEDs. It's not just about HRs.
  4. I don't agree that he had the ability to assemble a full (or close to it) bullpen with this strategy -- every once in a while he'd uncover a guy or two that'd have limited success, but the problem with this 'strategy' is that it really isn't one. It's just hoping you get lucky with inconsistent performers.
  5. The "Mays" catch he made recently calls this into question a bit. I'm not really sure what I see with him on defense, I really don't think I've seen enough of him yet.
  6. I actually haven't had much problem with the squeeze calls; they seem to have had a very high success rate so far. It's the "contact play" that makes me want to break things. It's almost always a bad call if the player on 3B isn't Carlos Gomez. Can we come up with a new name for this 'strategy'? I feel like "contact play" makes it sound like it's got a shot to work. "Give-up play" maybe?
  7. This team is bordering on unwatchable at this point, and for me it's exclusively due to the presence of Izturis, Ishikawa, & Conrad on the 25-man roster, along with a complete joke of a bullpen. Melvin & Roenicke are looking completely clueless this season; the roster moves are just god-awful.
  8. You have a case, but it is still Peralta in my book. Similar stuff, results and age with Wily at a higher level and some modest big league success. Really cool question, Paul. And overall what an awesome place for the Brewers to be in as an organization. Honestly, at this point, I think I lean Thornburg... but it's really close. Peralta's consistently been at higher levels relative to age, but Thornburg's career MiLB 2.37 ERA is just really, really impressive. I can't wait to see him reach his ceiling as just another RP!
  9. That sucks man, I can sympathize with caring too much for pet store fish...
  10. Josh Hamilton is the type of FA that all of the huge market teams get in on. A once-in-a-decade (at least) type of bat, and he'd be a good fit for just about any of them. The Brewers don't have the kind of money to match what this bidding is going to reach. Durability concerns won't be enough to hold the price down. His talent trumps all.
  11. Raines is definitely a guy I've felt belongs in the Hall. Really interesting to see just how closely he compares to Morgan.
  12. The idea that the Brewers could compete in the FA bidding for Hamilton just isn't realistic in any way.
  13. Green would be an excellent choice (imo) to hit #1 or #2 against RHP with the current roster.
  14. Yes, I'm completely forgetting that. I figured posting something like what I did would open this oh-too-familiar Pandora's Box. You can be both a huge Brewers fan & still believe the team would/could be better off with a different GM.
  15. I'm exactly the opposite. I'm ready for Melvin's tenure as GM to be over, he just isn't a long-term builder, he's a win-now/patcher. He's gotten decent to good results with that style, but he's left the Brewers in a really bad position in doing so. I would've rather had a new GM be the one to come in & clean up this mess; I just fear Melvin will continue to make bad long-term decisions.
  16. Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!
  17. Bianchi will be the starting SS before long... I hope
  18. I credit our four-post exchange as being the main reason Prince had a start back at SS tonight. Clearly there couldn't have been any other cause.
  19. If the Brewers ever started renting out full-time residential living spaces on the Club level, I'm not sure how I'd be able to justify not living there. The Club level is just... awesome.
  20. Crew, I just wanted to applaud you for keeping such good tabs on divisional prospect mentions. Really an awesome addition to the L.R.
  21. "Amphetamines" sounds so clinical & harsh. Let's call 'em "greenies" instead! That way they sound fun & harmless!
  22. Yeah, that's especially why the move to CF is so puzzling
  23. One thing I'm curious about with all the organizational shuffling following Gonzalez's & Gomez's injuries is will the Josh Prince --> CF experiment now come to an end? EDIT: Guess not, Matt Cline with the start tonight at SS, Prince still in CF.
