  1. The umps' zones have been tight all series long. I don't suspect any bias, but it sure is frustrating.
  2. Weeks & Betancourt each hit the ball at least as well as Roberts did... for the DBacks' only hit so far. I think Yo will settle in, his curve will be very important.

  4. http://tfparsons.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/spinaltapamp.jpg I'm there ^^ I think seeing the shots of the players on the field is what got me going. (I hope) this is going to be amazing.

  6. Calm before the storm. I'd say I'm at a 3/10 right now, but will definitely go to 11 by game time.
  7. He's been a really good player and I like him, but I think he's a notch below elite. I think you're overlooking just how valuable his bat was at catcher. Jorge's a HoFer for me. Players with a lower career OPS+ who are in the Hall: Lou Bodreau Joe Gordon Tony Lazzeri Joe Cronin Andre Dawson Casey Stengel Hughie Jennings Carlton Fisk Roberto Alomar Gary Carter Bobby Doerr Robin Yount Hary Hooper Ryne Sandberg ... and the list goes on further than that -- including seven of the HoF catchers JimH5 listed in his OP. Derek Jeter also has a lower career OPS+. I realize OPS+ isn't exactly the best stat to use, but it's not bad across different eras. Keep in mind Posada is also a guy that will probably play his entire career with one team. Granted, that's the richest team in baseball, but that's still brownie points with voters, I'm sure. If you vote him in, you have to vote in Jason Kendall and a bunch of others. Kendall's had nowhere near the career that Posada has had. Kendall while he was still in Pittsburgh is a guy who can match up with Posada. Kendall for his entire career can't hold a candle to Posada. Seriously people, look at Posada's career. If anything, playing for the Yankees has hurt him imo since he's been viewed as "good but not great" because he's played alongside guys like Jeter, A-Rod, etc. Please remember this is a catcher. Hitters like him at that position are incredibly rare. EDIT: tl;dr -- Yes, he's a Hall of Famer
  8. This all but guarantees Selig will get booed today.
  9. Good catch, Sam. That M font looks identical.
  10. That's like the final hole on a Liberace-designed putt-putt course.
  11. Guys, I don't think pretendastronaut is joking. Guh.
  12. AZ has Kennedy and momentum. The Brewers had Marcum & momentum heading into Phoenix, how'd that work out? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Also, let's give Principessa21 a moment here. She roots for the Yankees for the same kind of reasons we root for the Brewers. Thanks, Laura. She took it pretty well in stride, but was obviously bummed out. The Yanks had plenty of chances to score in that game. The playoffs seem to be all about hitting w/RISP. You do it, you win. You don't... you don't.
  14. This made me laugh really hard. I wasn't the only one!
  15. ChiSox fans will probably love this. Nice to see an organization not afraid to get the guy it wants, as opposed to interviewing Bob Brenly & two other guys... then hiring one of those other two guys.
  16. He's done it before. http://i.imgur.com/I15hJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/O4o8i.jpg
  17. My thoughts exactly. This one hurt -- so many chances to both stem the bleeding and tack on runs. Well there's a title I'd rather the team avoid.
  18. This season comes down to Yovani Gallardo. Is there honestly anyone else you'd rather see? I'm trying to fake confidence about Game 5 until it's legit confidence.
  19. It was a crazy game. Brewers won and swept the DH. Your story reminded me that I also was at a game (CLE @ MIL) where Albert Belle clothes-lined Fernando Vina on the bases between 1st & 2nd. That's literally the only thing I remember about that game. Impressionable young mind, I guess.
  20. Enjoying Lakefront Oktoberfest as I try to stay positive about Game 5.
  21. Yount 3,000th hit Last game at County Stadium Russell Branyan 3-HR game against the Cubs at Miller Park (sorry, can't remember what year) Prince Fielder & Rickie Weeks hit first career HRs in same game (this is a personal favorite)
  22. And mark up yet another start against a LHP for Kottaras thanks to Randy's uber-important complicated sign system. Another negative to starting Wolf today.
  23. 14th in the FSL doesn't scream 'disappointment' to me. All of the other pitchers on the FSL list are 20-22, with the exception of Carlos Martinez (STL). I guess my thought, then, on Thornburg, is that him being 22 really shouldn't carry much weight at all. He was a college arm taken in the 3rd round, and iirc was regarded as a bit of a raw project as a pitcher. I think you should focus on the fact that he's lived up to his ceiling so far, not that he's not in the top 10 or whatever. In his first season of full-season play, he dominated at two levels. That's always a good thing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Look at Peralta, he's living proof you can go from AA to AAA/MLB in just one season. I don't think Thornburg will be knocking on the MLB door in 2012 like Peralta basically was by August or September of '11, but I do think he's going to continue to get good results to go along with his good arm. The Brewers could be a lot worse off than having Peralta & Thornburg as the de facto top two pitching prospects in their system. I say de facto only because Jungmann & Bradley have yet to throw one professional pitch... those guys are good, too. I really really like Thornburg, but I LOVE Peralta. He's going to have to be a very important piece of the puzzle at the big-league level for the Brewers to stay in contention in years to come.
  24. I think Wolf can win us the game tomorrow night. I think he could get the W. I just think Yo gives the Brewers a better chance to win. I don't like when managers manage for the next round when they're not even there yet, although I do think Roenicke is doing what he believes is best for the 'right now' with starting Wolf.
  25. I'm disappointed that Wolf is going to start Game 4. Just seems to be begging for a Game 5 imo. I would much rather see Roenicke throw Gallardo tomorrow, then Wolf if he has to. Or use Wolf to start Game 1 in the NLCS if the team wins in Game 4.
