  1. If Green & Gamel aren't called up on Aug. 31st, I will be frustrated. Not saying I expect it to happen, but still.
  2. That Brett Carroll was jettisoned before Mark Kotsay brings me to a complete loss of words.
  3. This thread is going to be an all-time classic
  4. I feel like the ump overreacted by throwing his head back when all that got bumped was his chest. I assumed Rob Drake reacted there to spittle flying from the foaming mouth of the rabid Molina. I don't think I've ever seen a player act like such a buffoon before. This was really unbelievably out of line, though sadly not out of character for Molina. I can't think of a bigger jackwagon in all of MLB (players) than him.
  5. I have to imagine Peralta will be called up in September this year.
  6. Rivera, Allison Lead the Brewers Past the Voyagers By Voyagers Baseball GREAT FALLS Mont. -- Helena's offensive charge in the middle innings pushed them past the Voyagers, evening series with a 11-6 victory. After both teams traded four-run innings in the fourth, the Brewers responded immediately with a three-run fifth. With one out in the inning, Yadiel Rivera tripled to right-center field and was scored immediately on a Parker Berberet single. Two batters later, Max Walla homered off of Scott Snodgress to straight away centerfield, scoring two runs and giving Helena a 7-4 lead. The line drive cleared the caged-fence shy of the green outfield wall which protects fielders from the flag pole planted in play. The grounds rules at Centene Stadium dictate that as a home run. The Brewers would add two more runs in the sixth, extending their advantage to 9-4, more than enough support for the Brewers staff, which has the lowest ERA in the league. Eric Arnett (4-2) earned the win for the Brewers, going six innings, giving up five runs. The righty struck out four in his outing, walking two and hitting two, including former college teammate at Indiana, Michael Earley. Alex Jones (S,3) pitched the final third of the game, earning his first save of the season. The righty gave up just one run in three innings, using two double plays to his advantage. As a team, the Brewers turned four double plays in the ballgame. Scott Snodgress (0-2) lasted just 4.2 innings in the defeat. The lefty gave up seven runs--just three earned--striking out a career high eight, walking two. Snodgress looked very sharp through the game's first three innings, striking out six, allowing just one batter to reach. But Yadiel Rivera plagued him, collecting a single, a double, and a triple in three plate appearances against him. Austin Evans gave the Voyagers 2.1 innings of relief, giving up two runs, just one of which was earned. Jon Gulbransen gave up two runs in his lone inning while Kevin Rath continues to provide the Voyagers with quality outings, pitching a scoreless ninth. The Voyagers were led offensively by David Herbek. The shortstop collected three hits, including his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth. He ended the night with two RBIs. Martin Medina's double in the fourth scored three runners and brought the Voyagers to within one, before Herbek's first RBI brought him home to tie the game. The first baseman added a single in the ninth. Also with a multi-hit effort was Mark Haddow. His double in the fourth sparked the four-run inning. With an infield single in the seventh, Qualon Millender extended his on-base streak to 16 games. Both Yadiel Rivera, the league's hits leader, and Kenny Allison were just a home run short of the cycle. Allison drove home three runs in the ballgame. Parker Berberet added a couple of hits in the winning effort. Once again, the Voyagers fail to win their third straight game. They are now 0-6 when playing with a two-game winning streak. The series continues tomorrow night. Blair Walters (LHP) goes for the Voyagers against Tommy Toledo (RHP). First pitch between the Voyagers and the Brewers is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Kindrick Legion Field
  7. Final: Helena 11, @Great Falls 6 Helena Box Score Eric Arnett went six innings, allowing six hits, five runs (all earned); he walked two & struck out four. The only encouraging news was that he had a groundout/air-out ratio of 11/2. Alex Jones worked the final three innings, allowing three hits, one run (earned), striking out three & walking none. Yadiel Rivera had a three-hit night, including a double & triple. Kenny Allison also had three hits, one double & one triple, but added three RBI. Parker Berberet had two singles, with one walk & one mustache. Max Walla continues to translate physical tools into results, with a two-run homer to center in the 5th inning. Tyler Roberts & Adrian Williams each singled once. Helena Play-by-Play Arnett had gotten good results through three innings (five groundouts/one air-out, one hit (single), one BB, three K), but came undone in the 4th: Great Falls Bottom of the 4th Mark Haddow doubles (5) on a fly ball to right fielder Max Walla. Michael Earley hit by pitch. With Kevan Smith batting, passed ball by Tyler Roberts, Mark Haddow to 3rd. Michael Earley to 2nd. Kevan Smith walks. Martin Medina doubles (7) on a fly ball to center fielder Robert Garvey. Mark Haddow scores. Michael Earley scores. Kevan Smith scores. With David Herbek batting, wild pitch by Eric Arnett, Martin Medina to 3rd. David Herbek singles on a ground ball to shortstop Yadiel Rivera. Martin Medina scores. Andrew Douglas grounds into double play, shortstop Yadiel Rivera to first baseman Parker Berberet. David Herbek out at 2nd. Qualon Millender called out on strikes.
  8. A guy can go from bolivion to top prospect quite quickly I don't know if this was on purpose or not, but it doesn't matter. Awesome.
  9. Nice work Jim & Co. LOVE the new P50 release days!
  10. Well-stated. I'm excited about Keller as a prospect just based on draft-day scouting reports.
  11. While I agree about Komatsu's projected ceiling, this kind of trade is what I hate about how Melvin has run the Brewers while in contention. TheCrew07 describes him perfectly as a 'patcher'. The need for improvements at SS/IF & reserve OF was apparent from day one of Spring Training, but Melvin did nothing until the 11th hour, when he had to give up a player that could've provided 6+ seasons of affordable reserve OF play* for a guy in his mid-30s who'll be here for all of two months (three if things go well). In short, I like the addition of Hairston. But this kind of move could & should have been made much, much earlier -- getting the Brewers greater value (service time from Hairston/Player X) in return & taking less risks that this team could win enough games in spite of terrible performance at SS & 4th OF. For an example of what I mean about making the trade earlier, see Nyjer Morgan. * If you feel like quoting this part of my post & arguing that no prospect has ever proved anything, ever, please don't. We won't agree so let's not waste each other's time. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Dread Pirate Roenicke... because he makes logan say "inconceivable!" so often.
  13. I agree, interesting insight into the K-Rod situation with the Mets. Thanks for linking that.
  14. To be fair, almost all the comments in that discussion thread are eye-rolls at the whining/perceived whining.
  15. This really made me chuckle. Then it made me sad.
  16. I don't think this can be stated enough: Chris Mehring does an excellent, excellent job covering the T-Rats. Also, when I see John Dishon, I can't help but see a Nick Swisher clone.
  17. I hope so. Certainly would suck if he were on the list, but I've just run out of reasonable explanations as to why Green is still wasting away in AAA.
  18. My guess is he asked Green's agent. During the Sabathia trade speculation, Brantley's agent agent39 (aka Josh Kusnick) didn't know, & in fact denied (assuming the Brewers would've told him), that Brantley was on the PTBNL list. And I can't remember for sure, but Kusnick may actually also be Green's agent.
  19. Well, if someone who *should* know said he didn't *think* so, it's all settled.
  20. If Lucroy is moved to #2 it's because RRR wants him to bunt all the time. That's what your #2 hitter has to do, you know.
  21. ERA down from 5.66 to 4.50 in just 4 starts. Imo this is the beginning of that really dominant stretch I've been waiting to see Greinke go on.
  22. Excellent range, not a strong arm. Defensively, this is actually a nice addition. Too bad our lineup really kinda stinks now.
  23. Phew! Get strong soon Rickie, we love you!
  24. Yeah, Walla is starting to show production to go along with the raw talent -- great to see! Eric Arnett threw well -- 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 WP, 7-to-3 GB-to-FB. Cautiously excited... that's 4 good starts this season, with 1 so-so outing & 3 bad ones (by my measure)
