  1. This is a picture of plastic vomit, and I think it fits with tonight's performance. http://www.soimmature.com/images/sthumb_mega_vomit.gif
  2. TLB, why so high on Rosario and low on Egan? I don't believe either of those describes how I feel about either player. My "hope they don't trade for him" comment was only related to that the O's would probably have to offer Rosario back to the Brewers. But, yes, I do like Rosario more than Egan... with what very little I know of them.

  4. I don't know how to take this quote from Roenicke on Betancourt today Do I read that correctly as, 'Hey, he sucks, but I'm still going to start him"? Also, I think "everybody wants to throw on the run now" could have staying power.
  5. Fwiw Lunardi's top 4 seeds listed during the Marquette game were OSU, KU, ND, & Pitt; Duke just missing a 1 seed.
  6. I wonder if Tom considers himself someone who's watched Betancourt play regularly now: "Betancourt, who made 18 errors in 151 games, isn’t known for his defense and doesn’t grade out particularly well in certain categories, including range. But those who watch him regularly say he can handle the position as well as former Brewers shortstop J.J. Hardy." EDIT: Another tweet from TH on Betancourt:
  7. I definitely won't argue he's a good defender. I really liked him at the plate last season, even with the relatively poor overall results. Thought he worked the count well, and I just like his approach.
  8. 2010 composite NL catcher OPS: .713. Kottaras: .701. His BABIP of .209 really held his AVG down last season, and is almost certainly not going to repeat itself in '11. He has a good walk rate, & hits for power. Guys like that at catcher are rare. Plus, he's a lefty bat to complement the starter Lucroy as a RH.
  9. They almost threw it away last night - literally - but WVU forced a shot after the steal they got. Wasn't WVU still down three when they took that two-point shot?
  10. Wow, there's mailing it in, and then there's that.
  11. Turns out no boldly predicted correctly -- who saw this coming? http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2011/03/Team-Ali-thumb-550x364-2726491.jpg The story, and the rest of the pictures, are really worth checking out. Nicely done, Brewers Community Foundation.
  12. Just a suggestion, but call ahead if you're going to be bringing a relatively large group in. They might have some special offers to throw your way. Not saying I know, but it's worth asking. http://www.greatdanepub.c...&id=26&Itemid=40 Ask to speak with Kristin.

  17. I see what you're saying, but under Rule 5 ... rules... theoretically Egan could make the 25-man, and then Rosario could be offered back to the Brewers if he's not on the O's 25-man, right? That's where I was going with it.

  19. I would hope they wouldn't trade for him. There's no realistic way the O's keep him on their 25-man all season, is there?

  21. Yeah, did anyone else catch this line? -- "Amaury Rivas, who hasn't pitched because of an infected tooth, is another candidate." An infected tooth? What a crummy ST, in terms of injuries & ailments.
  22. It was bad. UWM got hot for a bit in the middle of the game, but frankly the final score was more indicative of the game as a whole than a close score would've been. Butler just outclassed UWM tonight, but I hope the Panthers can still sneak into the Dance.
  23. I would too, but the question is his health. Great, he played long-toss & was pain-free. Chris Carpenter just had a pain-free bullpen session. It's just not the same as being game-ready.
  24. Even if he has to miss 5 starts, it would likely be CIN, ATL, PIT, WAS, and HOU. That would take the team through most of April, and it doesn't look like he'll miss many games the team needed him to win I get the point here, the opponents probably aren't very good. But the team needs him to win all the time, not just against good teams. Now someone like Manny Parra, Wily Peralta, or Josh Butler could be making these starts, and that's obviously a huge dropoff. Imo there's no downplaying this injury, it's huge.
  25. 1) Guy has balls of steel, if anyone has ever bruised and fractured your ribs, that is not pleasant at all. This guy went out pitched two live games and didn't even want to take a day off from practice. This is the toughest you want out of a starter. I'd rather he had gotten a proper medical opinion right away & mitigated the time he'd miss. Imo it's equal parts stupid & gutsy, and in either event it means he's missing more regular season time instead of ST time. Frankly, any time an ace like Greinke has to miss is a big deal -- basically any replacement is going to be a big step down. The division might only be decided by a game or two, and could well end up being decided by Greinke getting hurt playing pickup basketball. I don't agree with the sentiments that this is no big deal. Is it better than if he'd miss time closer to the end of the season? Maybe, maybe not. 3) I am confident that the new 5th starter will be Mark Rogers for the first 2 games I'm not. Rogers has obviously missed tons of time due to injury in his career, and has had tightness in his shoulder this ST. I don't think he can necessarily be counted on at all this season (and this is from someone who is a 100% believer in Rogers).
