  1. Trenni probably turned down a pretty sweet paycheck in not doing studio work for MLBN.
  2. Nicely done. Too bad the face is so small, otherwise that's avatar caliber for someone.
  3. I think the only reason she has a job is because some think she is attractive which is unfortunate because I'm sure there are numerous other men and women whom would do a much better job. While I won't sit here & rally for her in-depth knowledge of baseball from top to bottom, I think this sentiment is a disservice to her. She's very articulate & rarely stumbled on her words on-camera with the Brewers. She was well-informed about the team & delivered information I found useful on the whole. For a sideline reporter, a position I normally find annoying, I thought Trenni did a fantastic job with the Crew. She brought a lot more than fluff (Brainerd comes to mind), and didn't misspeak as often as Telly does. Certainly her looks have helped her in terms of being on-camera talent, but frankly seeing her go after a radio gig doesn't surprise me. I've never gotten the impression that Trenni was about being eye candy; she certainly has quite a bit more substance than most of the attractive-female-sports-reporter crowd imo.
  4. Owned in just two posts. Nicely done, fellas. And bj, I guess I'd go for the Spiderman for Scorpion. Gotta incorporate the tail & stinger.
  5. This is where superhero superpowers come from. I don't know what Scorpion Man would be able to do, aside from sting foes, but I'm just saying.
  6. After watching some of his video highlights from last season, I really like the Morgan addition. I watched about a dozen defensive highlights, and saw him take a bad route on maybe one of them. He not only has excellent speed, but looks to have really good instincts in the outfield as well. His extraordinarily high career UZR/150 (20.2) in the outfield looks like it's a pretty decent descriptor of his ability. I had a little concern about his speed, since his BUH%, BABIP, & UZR/150 all were down significantly last season from his career norms (& I'm assuming those are largely speed-related stats). But he certainly didn't look like he'd lost a step at all on video, so I can probably chalk those drops down to randomness more than anything else. If he hits to his career norms against righties, I would hope he takes that half of platoon duties in CF.
  7. I think that's basically right, WTP. I wanted Cruz kept around, but I don't doubt Melvin's ability to trade for someone better than Cruz or Betancourt mid-season. What I doubt is whether he'll feel "motivated" to do so. So far, the Brewers' brass seems to be a-ok with Yuni.
  8. Gallardo's ERA was by far lowest when he was caught by Kottaras last year. I hate the Personal Catcher™ concept. EDIT: If Nieves were some kind of defensive whiz behind the plate I could get behind it, but as he apparently excels at neither hitting or catching, I'd rather have the potential pop of Kottaras' bat. I totally agree with this. Even though Kottaras isn't a good defensive catcher, I really like his pop & approach at the plate. Plus, I like the LH/RH combo with Lucroy -- Kottaras can spell Lucroy against tougher RHP, and thereby make better use of Lucroy's off days.
  9. Per Tom: Unfortunately, there was some bad news as well:
  10. Most importantly, he's accepted the assignment: Boggs had been previously outrighted and thus had the right to refuse this assignment, but it appears from the club’s brief announcement that he’s accepted.
  11. I liked the Prince & Axford commercials. The rest were pretty forgettable. I like that Saito managed to get into one, though. Roenicke's appearance & Prince's quick Pujols imitation in the outtakes were pretty sweet.
  12. Thanks, zurch, I was wondering. A few more, if they're wanted Allman Brothers - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed Ben Harper - So High So Low Billy Joel - Captain Jack CCR - I Heard it Through the Grapevine DMB - You Might Die Trying -- be sure it's a live version... Live at Mile High Music Festival is a good label-released live version The Decemberists - The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid Foo Fighters - Everlong, This is a Call Jethro Tull - Cross-Eyed Mary, Locomotive Breath Led Zeppelin - Dazed & Confused (first version -- there are two -- off the BBC Sessions album), What is and What Should Never Be Pete Yorn - Atlantic City/Murray (live track, off of Live from New Jersey), Crystal Village The Raconteurs - Carolina Drama, Rich Kid Blues Robert Randolph & the Family Band - Ted's Jam, Shake Your Hips, Tears of Joy (basically anything off Live at the Wetlands) Santana - Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen I'd just like to randomly add that The Raconteurs' "Carolina Drama" is probably my favorite song right now. It also would seem to fit the type of song you're looking for perfectly.
  13. I have to ask... why do you want such a list of songs that build up? Is it for something specific, or do you just like that style of song?
  14. If the Brewers are offering the best monetary deal, I could see him coming back. I doubt that would be the case, though.
  15. Another one would be 'American Woman' by the Guess Who (the full version). Great call. I can't believe I didn't think of this one!
  16. Say what you want, but Hardy was taken for granted in a big way when he was here. Only by people who wanted to flat-out release him (& I'm not only referring to his '09 season). The mistake the Brewers made was selling really low on him when they didn't have to, not taking him for granted.
  17. Of course, the year we traded Gabe Gross is the year Hart floundered in the second half and people were wishing we had a LH RF to platoon with Hart. Sometimes it's less about the overall player and more about the talents he brings to the table Well said. And MJ, I'd actually thought back on the Gross trade during the Dickerson-Mitre discussion here, too.
  18. Just because Dickerson drew a lot of walks his first year in Cincinnati (still a mostly a product of the pitcher if you ask me), doesn't make him a better player than Gomez. He's over three years older, and showed absolutely nothing during his time in Milwaukee with the bat. Which is clearly all you care about. Again, I'd be interested in hearing about these flashes Gomez has shown. For all you rail on Dickerson, he's at least done something at the plate in real life, as opposed to Gomez.
  19. scorpion > salad tongs?
  20. What did Dickerson show on defense during his tenure in Milwaukee? That he was another good defensive CF. Even you should be able to admit that you're just not being objective about the guy. I'd really like to hear about these "flashes" that Gomez has shown. I mean, you go out of your way to knock that Dickerson has only had one decent season. Trouble is, that's one more than Gomez has ever had. I like Gomez's physical tools, and I wouldn't be so pessimistic of his chances at turning into a useful player if he'd done anything of note in his professional career at the plate. He hasn't.
  21. He's really focusing on hitting line drives up the middle! he's done nothing to prove that he can match that production- or stay healthy enough to so do, for that matter. He showed nothing in a Brewers uniform in any aspect of the game whatsoever. Well if we're just completely going to ignore defense, then Gomez hasn't either. And this quoted statement applies even moreso to him. It really makes me laugh how hard you hate on Dickerson because he's never done anything, yet you completely manage to overlook that Gomez has done even less.
  22. Mine is now 100% toast. It was at roughly 99% toast heading into that KU-VCU game.
  23. I wonder if there's some secret society of guys like Kendall & Kotsay. The 25-Man Cockroach Club?
  24. My question is why are we keeping Kotsay over Boggs? Because apparently Melvin wants to use a roster spot on a second bench coach.
  25. Yeah, me too PEM. We now have two guys that can only play 1B & pretend to play corner OF in Kotsay & Almonte? That's not a good use of two roster spots. This team really has a long way to go if it wants to contend seriously this season. The good news is that the star players are the guys we already have, the bad news is that the team still needs a lot more help at SS, CF, & the bench. There is zero power off the bench, and that concerns me quite a bit.
