  1. The Yankees have already identified Lee as their main target this coming offseason, just like Sabathia was two offseasons ago. They will not be outbid for him, period.
  2. *sigh* That sucks to hear.
  3. While you're usually pretty quick to slam Melvin, it should be noted that the Brewers probably scout Canada better than any organization around. They've also been pretty solid in recent years in the D.R., iirc.
  4. Yo's QS% is only 50%. There are 26 pitchers in the NL alone over 60%, 10 of them over 75%! You don't think a very poor defense behind a pitcher can lead to more baserunners, pitches, and shorter outings?
  5. We also saw Gamel have a major meltdown at a coach when he was told he'd be a level lower than he though he should be, he was especially mad that LaPorta would be a level higher. Well now this is an interesting tidbit.
  6. The Brewers came out & said this move was temporary, and that he'll be starting again in 2011.
  7. That doesn't change the fact that Hardy has been better on both sides of the ball this season, which as best I can tell, is what was being discussed. Escobar has been healthier, but that's where his edge over Hardy this season ends.
  8. I was going to bump an older Gallardo thread, but since this one was just started... FanGraphs just had a post on Yo earlier today -- and if it makes you feel better, RU Rah Rah, it compares him to King Felix http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. Giving Gallardo Love
  9. Everything went better than expected... I'm so happy to see Mat & Jeremy getting to join the big club. But, like you note wibadgers, looks like Gamel might rot on the bench again.
  10. Congrats to both Jeremy & you, Josh. And am I remembering correctly that he pronounces his last name "Jeffries"? Thought I read that in the MiLB forum somewhere.
  11. Woohoo! I can't wait to see him pitch. As a reliever, he might be able to give Chapman a run for his money on the radar gun.
  12. I'm already in love with Thornburg as a prospect.
  13. OPS is one of the best stats in terms of correlation with runs scored, iirc. Hardy has also been significantly better on defense than Escobar overall this season.
  14. Clark over Edu was idiotic. Like yoshii said, the team played SO much better with Edu in the middle. And of course don't forget Edu had his brilliant goal against Slovenia disallowed. He was a player that clearly belonged in the starting 11 every single time the team had a match to play, and Bradley continued to screw that up. When someone with so little knowledge of the game (read: me) can see that Edu should have been an obvious choice, it's hard to get excited about Bradley getting extended. I would have loved to see USMNT look outside the country for a head coach.
  15. Reminds me of the Brewers' attendance down the stretch in 1992.
  16. That's that hypothetical 'leadoff guy so we can slide Rickie down in the order' BF has been dreaming about the past three or so seasons.
  17. Awesome stories, so far. AJAY, yours rocks.
  18. I don't see any reason why the White Sox would give Danks for one season of Prince, let alone Viciedo with him. Danks is still under team control for three seasons. So, while he'll be getting more expensive, he still has a ton of value. To me, the obvious candidates to be dealt are Prince & Casey. I hope both are moved this offseason.
  19. So Gamel, Villy, & Stetter? I really hope Jeffress is one of those 2 pitchers.
  20. Just wanted to bump this thread since, barring a colossally bad September, Casey has proven he's a pretty legit MLB hitter. He has one super-cheap season left, then his three arbitration seasons. I'd think he could realistically bring back a decent SP at this point. Aside from the Marlins, what are some other teams people think would be good trade targets for McGehee?
  21. I think the Brewers are going to be pretty strong at catcher for the next 3-ish seasons. Solid production at a very cheap price. And I love the LH/RH combo -- I think this duo can really give the Brewers an edge at catcher over the vast majority of teams.
  22. Here's a partial list of other guys who had "unbelievable stuff": Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Nick Neugebauer. Pedro Martinez, Bob Gibson, Randy Johnson...
  23. Not sure what you're trying to prove. Yes, his power is probably for real, and yes his defense is solid. Does "deserves a shot" = supplanting Braun or Hart? Because that seems basically to be what you're suggesting. Maybe in a less-talented organization, you have a beef, but the Brewers are fortunate enough to not need to have fringy-corner-OF guys take precedent. I like Katin; I think he brings a lot of value, but I certainly don't think he "deserves a shot" when he has to beat out Braun & Hart to get his full-time shot at the MLB level. As of today, I think Katin's best-case scenario is as a 5th OF in 2011.
