  2. His perfect game came post-major injuries, didn't it?
  3. Loved the guy....great coach, great writer, great teacher. Cannot say anything bad about him. Seconded. I was really saddened when I saw this news today. The positive spin on it, though, is that he lived about as full a life as anyone could imagine. Knowing his mindset, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't even sad that it was his time to move on. R.I.P. Mr. Wooden -- your coaching legend is only surpassed by your class as a human being.
  4. Do you really believe he should be forced to pay some of it back? Isn't there risk with any draftee not panning out, whether from injury or whatever else, that the organization inherently assumes?
  5. http://i.imgur.com/N2nBj.jpg god bless the internet
  6. The force will be with you, Randy Wolf. Beware the dark side & Lord LaRussa.
  7. Frankly, if possible, I'd rather see the Brewers go after better pitchers that are in high A or AA ball. I really don't want to see another string of high-80s velocity guys come up.
  8. Link Ferdinand emerged from the hospital on crutches http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/47996000/jpg/_47996893_riocrutches466.jpg EDIT: Updated with confirmed story
  9. Eric Arnett--there I said it. This is the reason the Crew is doomed to mediocrity. I just lost a long(ish) response to this, so suffice it to say I think this is incredibly misguided & over-the-top. Arnett is absolutely not a sign of anything, nor is the Brewers' system in trouble in terms of pitching. It's not one of the best systems in the game in terms of arms, but to make such a blanket statement like this is just not accurate. To anyone that feels this comment above is true, I'll just say familiarize yourself with the pitchers in the system before saying something like this. As for Bush, I guess I get where he's coming from, but come on Dave. He has to know he's not the same pitcher anymore. I'm positive that Ken Macha is sicker than any of us of watching soft tossers either get lit up or dinked & dunked to death (usually with the help of some crappy defense). I'm really glad he's getting Parra back on the hill to see if he can be an asset as a starter. To be honest I could care less which of the soft tossers are bumped from the rotation to facilitate that. You say it's going to be Bush? Fine by me.
  10. Yeah, Ivory Coast is going to have a tough go even with Drogba. Being in a group with Brazil & Portugal is brutal.
  11. R.I.P. Rue. She was a brilliant performer, as were her co-stars on GG. She was probably my favorite actress on the show -- she absolutely defined Blanche Devereaux
  12. This season sucks. It's like an abusive relationship... I just keep coming back for more.
  13. Obviously you and I disagree and we can debate it based on our reasons, but you cannot use the majority of people on ESPN or youtubers who spent 5 hours a day on facebook and use that as an arguement to support your cause...the most popular show currently on TV is dancing with the stars. I didn't mention Dancing With the Stars/ESPN/YouTube/casual fans. I think, given the comments here (which is what I was referring to... should've emphasized that), the vast majority of die-hard baseball fans (at least here) were perturbed & want to see that call overturned.
  14. I'm glad the Brewers are actually getting an extended look at Parra. When it was announced he was going back to the 'pen, I was frustrated.
  15. Sorry but for me its obnoxious that someone can care so much about a game that you cant have fun with it and realize how special that game was last night. I fail to see how I can't recognize that, enjoy baseball, and find the blown call & subsequent lack of action by MLB obnoxious. THIS IS A GAME, the most important aspect is not to get perfect calls, it is to make it enjoyable for the fans. And you're only one fan. Obviously there are many, many more that enjoy things like this more when they aren't botched by a bad call & subsequent lack of action by MLB.
  16. There's a good chance that he'll fall off a cliff and hit for a .650 OPS the rest of the season. I don't think there's a good chance that happens. I think it's a possibility, but a pretty extreme one. Especially if Macha uses Hart well when he inevitably cools off, there is almost no chance that will happen. Since we're not in the playoff hunt, I think that if his recent power surge has upped his trade value, we should take advantage of that and bring Cain up to "get acclimated" this season so he's ready next year when the games will once again matter. I agree with this completely, and hope that it's what the Brewers are able to do. I'd be willing to bet there's beginning to be a pretty decent market for a bat like Hart's right now.
  17. Its fun to talk about blown calls and would could have beens. While I appreciate the perspective you're lending here, no -- for me, it's really not. It's obnoxious.
  18. Not good: Link
  19. If you're by the dugout, anyone watching on TV will be able to at least hear you. I kinda feel sorry for the Marlins players that they routinely play in front of so few fans. Hopefully the new park will remedy that.
  20. And the fact that this is only his age-24 season. He definitely still has room to grow & progress.
  21. Thanks for that video link, RK'sFG. Here's another one, not anywhere near as serious http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixKidAhVtW4
  22. Edmonds wasn't paid on rep., though, he got a deal worth $850K if he made the bigs, and the rest of his possible money is based on performance incentives.
  23. Nice, it'll be good to see Mat back in action in AAA
