  1. From McCalvy's blog post "Hart improving with more consistent playing time": That quote from Corey kinda surprised me in how candidly critical he came across.
  2. Love ya, Rickie! All you had to do to help the team win was get on base five times today http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Macha is so bad this year that it's not even funny. What's strange is that I thought his bullpen management was solid last season.
  4. Ok, who's hurt? Why did Gameday just show "Injury Delay"? It was just a normal PH appearance for the pitcher, wasn't it?
  5. BP, and people/things that harm the environment. Here's a great suggestion I saw for a new BP logo: http://i.imgur.com/P0qkj.jpg
  6. If the Mets signed Fielder in FA, there's a chance they'd have to forfeit their first round pick.
  7. I'd really like to know... I don't know if you meant that as an actual question or not, topper... but I do http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Whoops, thank you trwi (& others). Great, just what this team needs -- another injury, esp. in the outfield.
  9. So, the Brewers HAVE to be showcasing Corey Hart for trade, right?! I mean, geez. What makes Macha play him so much against RHP & sit Gerut? The sad thing is I know the answer is Gerut's small sample struggles this season.
  10. I really hope they exceed your prediction, because I sure don't want to have to read your posts about how right you were. You're doing it now, and you don't even know yet. I have no problem with differences of opinion, but this thread has gotten really hard to read. I guess I just need to drop out.
  11. BTW, if they play .500 the rest of the way, that is a 76-86 record, five games better than they are actually going to finish. A 71-91 record (.438 W%) is your prediction? I sure hope they can beat that. Barely getting past 70 wins would just be depressing.
  12. Unbelievable. Sorry, Dave, but you're either not fully healed, or done as a starter in the big leagues. That sucks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  13. McGehee has earned a starting spot. His poor fielding certainly shouldn't have earned him the 3B spot. Broken record time, but my scenario is Gamel at 3B & McGehee at 1B after Fielder is traded, which I hope happens during this season.
  14. Essien will miss World Cup Ghana's Michael Essien has been ruled out of the World Cup, according to the country's football association (GFA). The Chelsea midfielder has been struggling with injury and has been told he will not fully recover until the end of July. The GFA said that the decision was taken after a joint evaluation of his fitness by them and his club. His last competitive match was for Ghana during the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. He took part in the early stages of that tournament despite not being fully fit, having torn a hamstring in December. He then injured his knee and has not played for either Ghana or Chelsea since.
  15. If it's mechanics, then I think I'll breathe a little sigh of relief. Hopefully the organization can get him ironed out. It's way too early to be down on him much imo.
  16. That is pretty darn exciting, H&T. If you look at his game logs, his BB issues were really worst in his first two starts of the season, and then an outing (4/27) where he got shelled & clearly just wasn't on his game. If you examine the rest of his starts, his BB/9 is a much more respectable 4.13. I know you don't really get to just cherry-pick like that, but if his control has indeed improved from the first two starts like it appears it might have, this could wind up being a huge season for Rogers. Fwiw, since that 4/27 drubbing, his ERA is 2.84 & his K/9 is 6.16. I also think it will be funny, if he keeps progressing & being discussed more, to see how often people give his last name the QB Aaron treatment & misspell it "Rodgers"
  17. Hah! Thanks for linking that, Straw
  18. No. It's amazing to me how selfish and/or oblivious to others being on the road many drivers are.
  19. Gamel's got one one of the prettiest left handed swings I've seen. Short, compact, he stays in the zone and he stays in there vs left handed pitching to the point where he has hit lefties as well as RH'ers in the past. Very well-stated. I absolutely love Gamel's swing, and believe he's as patient a hitter as the Brewers have at any level. We obviously agree completely on Gamel (except that I think he's going to be a plus defender at 3B instead of 1B... if the org. lets him stay there). In fact, in many ways he reminds me of Chase Utley That's a very interesting comparison, swing-wise.
  20. You're right, I overstated myself there. This season, he's been pretty bad, though. .222/.293/.444/.737. Really the only redeeming quality is a strong ISO. 9 BB in 99 PAs isn't bad, either. And a crazy bit of trivia -- Corey Hart's line v. LHP this season (.349/.420/.744/1.164) has come with a very normal BABIP of .306. He has absolutely slaughtered lefties so far, and it really can't be chalked up to luck.
  21. I think you mean IMPACT TALENT http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I agree, BPA is almost always the best way to go, no matter the sport. I think it's even more prudent in MLB.
  22. I think it's a relevant concern, Invader. But like I posted I feel much better about this situation, since Macha's been good with the catchers. Time will tell if he actually has patience with another top prospect (like if Lucroy struggles a bit), or if he's going to make Jon 'prove' himself in the manager's eyes.
  23. Didn't Palmisano get stabbed while out drinking in Beloit?http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...p;fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen was suspended last April for the remainder of the 2004 season for violating the Brewers' own alcohol and drug policy, and he subsequently quit baseball. Several Class A prospects including promising catcher Lou Palmisano were suspended for four games last season for an after-curfew incident in which pitcher Greg Kloosterman was stabbed, and Palmisano later missed more than two weeks in what Ash termed an "internal" matter. I know Peavey posted about staying on-topic with Eveland, but I figured answering this question wouldn't hurt
