You know, I realize it's all just speculation really, but the whole racial angle would suddenly make the 'uproar' over Mike Cameron untuckin-'em make a loottt more sense.
Not to mention it created even more pitching depth in the organization. Without that move, Thornburg was probably your #5 SP, and he's obviously already been bitten by the injury bug. Then you're looking at Nelson up as the 5th SP, which is fine, but then if he gets hurt you'd be down to Fiers &/or worse players to step in. I know many posters here have been frustrated with Garza so far, but in watching him to this point in the season I feel like he's been a bit unlucky... or at least he has looked like his normal self to me. I think he has pitched well overall, & his overall numbers are finally starting to match up with that. In terms of roster planning, adding Garza gives Doug & Co. so much more flexibility with guys like Gallardo & Lohse nearing the ends of their deals (& Estrada nearing the end of his arbitration seasons). I felt at the time & still feel that the Garza acquisition had an extremely important domino effect on the pitching depth throughout the entire organization.
I feel like if the Brewers believed Zarraga had a chance to be a big-leaguer, he'd already be in Nashville. Neither catcher for the Sounds has hit a lick. Why he's in Huntsville still is puzzling... not to mention that he's currently one of three active catchers on the Stars' roster.
I want whatever kind of homestand is required to maintain this lead on the Cardinals. No, no, no. We are not at this point now. We are at the point of the season we need to put the foot on the pedal even more. The bigger lead we can create, the better chance we have at holding on in the end if they make a push. The idiots who say oh well, it's still early in the season are looney toons. A win now counts the same as a win in September! This is a comment that is aimed indirectly at a lot of people who post on this board, & is out of line in terms of board etiquette. Please refer to said etiquette if you have any questions. viewtopic.php?f=73&t=4208

http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewArticle.do?articleId=288&printable=true Still unsure if he actually was an option. Hah - of course a good report on it would have been right on this very site. Kudos for searching & finding, Brew4U
BA saying he couldn't understand why Marco has been knocked around while having thrown so many strikes made me twitch a little. Can you really not understand that leaving meaty pitches over the plate will result in 1) lots of strikes & 2) lots of hits?
Michael Brantley leads the Indians in homers and RBI's, and sports an OPS well north of .900. :D I'm not completely sure of this, but I'm pretty certain that Lucroy was a PTBNL option for the Indians in that trade too. So at least they didn't go that route. I don't recall that at all. If anyone can dig up any info on this, it'd be interesting to see.
England eliminated from a World Cup group stage for the first time since 1958; first time in history they've been eliminated after playing just two matches. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27935803
It's far too early to be passing those kinds of judgments. Roache's production appeared to be held down in the first half/portion of 2013 as he recovered fully from his wrist break. He hit like heck in the second half of '13. Now he's facing likely the best pitchers he's ever seen in his life & in a horrible hitters' park in notorious pitchers' league. This season so far, he's had a crappy April, an .828 OPS in May, & a crappy first half of June.
I cant. What is the confusion? Thanks J Confusion at the time I posted was whether or not it was a pure opt-out clause, in the sense that he could immediately sign with any other organization, or if the opt-out clause was conditional on being signed to another org's 25-man roster.
The Socceroos played really well, although through the last ~30 minutes of the match, I felt like Netherlands could've easily scored once or twice more. Anyway, that match was worth watching for the Tim Cahill volley alone: http://fitbamob.com/b/LLSxyLT/
