  1. Nice showing, Nick! Right-handed hitters had an advantage. There was a light wind to left and a shorter fence was just in front of the wall running toward left-center. The top left-handed batter was Huntsville first baseman Nick Ramirez, who blasted eight homers, including four in a row in the first round, to just miss advancing to the finals. Take one guess as to who won the derby. What a monster. The Astros taking RHP Mark Appel over this guy will prove to be an epic blunder. ... Concurred?! Seriously? Not close to "conquered" in either spelling or meaning.
  2. The Brewers should be staying far far away from considering trading for non-hitters like Bonifacio & Bloomquist.
  3. Good on Ryan for hustling on that one! Should be at third base, & he is!
  4. I remember that there was some mild outrage a season or two ago when Jeter faked/'sold' that he'd been HBP. I wonder if Maldonado will receive similar scorn.
  5. Please be 'inexplicably dialed in' K-Rod, & not 'twenty pitches of terror' K-Rod tonight
  6. Fairly typical, yes. It doesn't really have an impact on whether or not you're called for a foul, though. What a great header from Brooks! What a finish!
  7. Saw on a ticker that the Dodgers have placed Jr on the bereavement leave list. Just a sad, sad day.
  8. Well you didn't jinx him. Another fantastic outing. 7 innings, 5 hits, 6 k's, 0 walks, 9-3 GO:FO ratio. Awesome http://i.imgur.com/Py3WoPP.jpg

  10. Plus we won't face Pepe (though you could argue we'd prefer to have him in the lineup, to possibly get sent off...), & (sadly) Coentrão
  11. I'll accept blame later for jinxing him, but Jorge Lopez's ERA over his last 5 starts is 1.13 (4 ER in 32 IP)
  12. Josh, I hope you see this -- can you elaborate at all about Taylor Green's opt-out clause in his contract? There's some discussion on the MLB forum here & no one really has definitive answers.
  13. They're a pretty mediocre side, but overall have really transformed nicely under Klinsmann's tutelage. If everything breaks in their favor, I could see them advancing past the group stage, but IMO that's a pretty long shot. Germany are probably the best side in the World Cup, and Portugal are pretty tough as well (with the best or second-best player in the world). If we don't win tonight, advancing is going to be a huge huge ask.
  14. "cause slight but persistent annoyance, discomfort, or anxiety."
  15. Uruguay will also be without their first-choice RB in the next match (England). England played well enough to win, but Italy didn't exactly deserve to lose. Aurier put in a couple of great balls for Ivory Coast's two goals, & Bony's header on the first goal was spectacular.
  16. Thanks splitter! Score one for my memory (for once).
  17. Slot value for the 1-12 was ~$2.8MM, correct? So that's basically right there.
  18. Oh I'm following it. The Dutch win yesterday was shocking to say the least... felt like it easily could've been more than 5-1. Colombia-Greece has been intense so far.
  19. With Medeiros signing, the Crew have signed every pick from Rounds 1-11. Time to get Yamamoto & Oquendo signed up!
