    How does PECOTA typically fare translating minor-league to MLE's? All three of those projections look extremely good.

    That being said, 17 years without a hit?? What is your standard for a "hit"? He has released some good albums since 1991, also MJs Last Dance was surely a hit. His album Wildflowers was very good, that was released around 94/95 and I remember it still having legs into 1996. Good form, RyDogg. I was just coming to post about Wildflowers - actually my favorite Petty album.

    I really think the team that'll end up taking Vargas is a non-contender that needs a place-holder or one-yr. solution for the middle/back of their rotation. San Fran. comes to mind perhaps, or maybe Fla.? Many other candidates, just two examples.

    I didn't think the first one was racist so much as culturally weird, but the second one with the pandas was pretty darn close to meeting my definition of racist. That's the one I saw... missed their first one. Oh darn.

    So far, with the exception of two or three, the commercials imo have been almost totally garbage. Very disappointing. EDIT: I liked that Ideacast ad about searching for the 18-35 y-o demographic. "Ted?!"

    The gap in the two rankings for Michael Brantley caught my eye. Ha! Ildb beat me to it. How about Darren Ford? Are the differences more a result of the P50 not being updated since last season?

    the statement was about PH, not bench. Ward has been an excellent PH in heavy use over the last few years. Gross and Murton have been poor PH in moderate use. dillon has been an excellent PH with few AB. Good point on Ward. I guess I see PH numbers from year-to-year as presenting small sample problems... but Ward did very well in 2006, and just fine in 2007 (but his PH OBP of .423 was stellar). I definitely see that he's done well, but since it's only 125 PA total ('06 & '07) we're talking about, I guess I'd expect 2008 to be more like the .765 OPS he posted in PH situations (or his career # of .770) in 2007 than he did in 73 PA in 2006. For example, if he'd collected just 4 fewer hits, 3 fewer BB, and wasn't hit by the one pitch he was, you're talking a .283 BA & a .342 OBP. Still nice numbers, but I think it highlights the tiny samples involved in PH numbers. I trust career numbers more, but don't discount the job done in PH situations. On the same angle, I'd expect Gabe's numbers to move closer toward his career .753 OPS. If Gross puts up freak monster PH numbers like Ward did in 2006, I would feel the same in that I'd expect him to regress, too.

    He has his players do what he thinks they should do vs. what they actually can do. Having Brady Clark frequently attempt to steal (2006) might be the poster child example. Last year's example would have been using Turnbow on back to back days. Nice point. Ned's biggest weakness imo is managing for what he imagines could or may happen, as opposed to what is most likely. That's a succinct way of phrasing my problem with him as manager.
